Running
Run the 3 remote and rugged Munros of the Knoydart peninsula, Scotland's 'last wilderness'. Ferries and Lodge Accommodation included.
Knoydart is a peninsula on the west coast of Scotland and is known as ‘Britain’s Last Wilderness’. Isolated from the UK road network, the region is only accessible only by boat or by foot. It is truly a stunning and unspoiled corner of Scotland. If ever there was a way to really 'get away from it all' then this is it!
Over our three days in Knoydart, we will be running to all three Munro summits on the peninsula,
Ladhar Bheinn, Meall Buidhe and Luinne Bheinn
. These mountains can be run in a number of ways and we will choose which days to run and which routes to take nearer the time, to make the best of the weather. One of the three days will be a rest day, with optional wild-dips or an easy low level run will be available for keen beans!
Join us at
Knoydart Lodge
on Knoydart, with its open plan layout, high vaulted ceilings, open beam architecture and gorgeous views out to the community market garden and Loch Nevis. The Lodge sits within the grounds of 18th Century Inverie House with its walled garden. Accommodation includes shared sleeping rooms (twin beds or bunks) and cooking facilities (self-catering; food is not inlcuded).
What to expect?
You can expect rough, rocky summits with a truly wild-feel and spectacular views. The 'running' is not reasy going in these rugged hill and will be more akin to 'fast-hiking' at times! We'll be walking the climbs and the rough ground, and jogging the flats and descents where we can. The pace will be relaxed and sociable to ensure that nobody gets left behind.
As these Munros are reasonably sized days a good level of hill/running fitness and experience is required to enjoy these big mountain days (especially as you'll need to carry a decent sized running pack/vest). Unwind and take in the scenery, as our guides show you the way. Previously experience of back to back hill days will be good preparation to condition your legs.
Please note that although it is our aim to reach all three summits, the final itinerary will depend on the weather/conditions, and will be at the guides' discretion.
