2 days of guided mountain running taking in some of the Glen Affric Munros with a 2 night stay at Glen Affric YHA. If you’re a mountain runner and a lover of wild, remote places then this is THE best wilderness adventure the Scottish Highlands has to offer - and just 45mins from Inverness! Fresh air and tranquility, quiet trails, scenic lochs and nothing but mountains all around. Join us to run over some spectacular Munros, set deep in the Glen Affric National Nature Reserve - 'often described as the most beautiful glen in Scotland'! We will journey to our base at the isolated Glen Affric Ecohostel on Friday evening* www.hostellingscotland.org.uk/hostels/glen-affric A former stalking bothy, this rustic hostel is the perfect location to get away from it all and relax in an area of natural beauty. Once at the eco-hostel, we will spend the evening ‘cooking-up’ and enjoying a roaring fire. On day-1 we will allow you to walk/run/ride the 15km into to the hostel at your own pace (easy trail), one of our guides will be the back marker so you are welcome to stick with them if you prefer some company. Early on day-2 we will set out together for a big day in the Sgùrr nan Ceathreamhnan hills, straight from our door at Alltbeithe. Weather and progress will dictate our full itnierary but we'll aim to climb at least three Munros; Mullach nan Dheiragain, Sgùrr nan Ceathreamhnan and An Socach, over two days. On the Sunday we'll also walk/run/bike the 15km back out to our cars, at the eastern end of Loch Affric - on tired legs! Expecting to be back for around 4/5pm. You don't need to be fast but you will need good hill fitness and stamina for this event. The journey will be sociable however, with plenty of stops enroute for faffs, snacks and snaps. The weekend’s cost covers guiding and instruction with a Summer Mountain Leader qualified and/or Fell Running Association (FRA) accredited guides. Upon booking you will receive an email which will include information about what to wear and bring with you. We pride ourselves on being 'approachable and relatable' so please please do get in touch with any concerns or queries you might have now or nearer to the event. We look forward to having some fun and showing you some of the most highly-prized Munros in the Scottish Highlands! Please note that the Girls on Hills Terms and Conditions are different from those of Eventbrite and our Cancellation Policy can be viewed via our website at www.girlsonhills.com/terms-and-conditions . We advise taking out your own insurance, as you would for any outdoor activity holiday. Information Source: Girls on Hills Ltd | eventbrite

Learn everything you need to know about fastpacking on a 2-day guided trail running journey through one of Scotland's most beautiful glens If you’re a trail runner who would love to try multi-day running with everything you need on your back, then this is your chance - a wilderness feel just 45mins from Inverness! Fresh air and tranquility, remote trails, scenic lochs and nothing but mountains all around. Into to Fastpacking is a two day learning journey that takes runners deep into the Glen Affric National Nature Reserve, which is 'often described as the most beautiful glen in Scotland'! Through a pre-event Zoom seminar, as well as in-person 'on the go' we'll cover all aspects of fast-packing and wild-camping for trail runners. To include: Pack selection (for women) Pack weight and organisation Weather for fastpacking (tents, bivis and tarps) Stoves and pans Fastpacking food Personal safety considerations for women Bothies and hostels vs wild-camping (best practice and etiquette) Clothing and safety equipment Poles for fast-packing Together we will demo a variety of fastpacking equipment and explore the essentials of travelling fast and light over a multi-day journey. In this introduction to fast-packing, you will need to run with your sleeping bag, clothing and food on your back but you do not need to carry a tent, stove, utensils or sleeping mat this time - a perfect taster of multi-day trail running. On the Saturday night, we will stay at the remote, offgrid Glen Affric Ecohostel, a former stalking bothy ( www.hostellingscotland.org.uk/hostels/glen-affric ). This rustic hostel is the perfect place to relax in simple surrounds, in an area of natural beauty (we have sole-occupancy of the hostel). Once at the eco-hostel, we will spend the evening ‘cooking-up’ and enjoying a roaring fire. On day-2 we will run a different trail to complete a loop through this ancient and majestic landscape, with its ancient Caledonian pines. The route is approx 18km (11 miles) on day 1 and only 12km (7.5miles) on day 2. The terrain is rolling and varied but not very hilly! You don’t need much experience and you needn’t be concerned about your pace. The journey will be sociable, with plenty of stops enroute for faffs, snacks and snaps! The start and finish location will be at the Glen Affric (road-end parking) but we will meet as a group in Cannich beforehand. This event is suitable for all abilities but is built around those new to trailrunning/fastpacking adventures. Run the 3 remote and rugged Munros of the Knoydart peninsula, Scotland's 'last wilderness'. Ferries and Lodge Accommodation included. Knoydart is a peninsula on the west coast of Scotland and is known as ‘Britain’s Last Wilderness’. Isolated from the UK road network, the region is only accessible only by boat or by foot. It is truly a stunning and unspoiled corner of Scotland. If ever there was a way to really 'get away from it all' then this is it! Over our three days in Knoydart, we will be running to all three Munro summits on the peninsula, Ladhar Bheinn, Meall Buidhe and Luinne Bheinn . These mountains can be run in a number of ways and we will choose which days to run and which routes to take nearer the time, to make the best of the weather. One of the three days will be a rest day, with optional wild-dips or an easy low level run will be available for keen beans! Join us at Knoydart Lodge on Knoydart, with its open plan layout, high vaulted ceilings, open beam architecture and gorgeous views out to the community market garden and Loch Nevis. The Lodge sits within the grounds of 18th Century Inverie House with its walled garden. Accommodation includes shared sleeping rooms (twin beds or bunks) and cooking facilities (self-catering; food is not inlcuded). What to expect? You can expect rough, rocky summits with a truly wild-feel and spectacular views. The 'running' is not reasy going in these rugged hill and will be more akin to 'fast-hiking' at times! We'll be walking the climbs and the rough ground, and jogging the flats and descents where we can. The pace will be relaxed and sociable to ensure that nobody gets left behind. As these Munros are reasonably sized days a good level of hill/running fitness and experience is required to enjoy these big mountain days (especially as you'll need to carry a decent sized running pack/vest). Unwind and take in the scenery, as our guides show you the way. Previously experience of back to back hill days will be good preparation to condition your legs. Please note that although it is our aim to reach all three summits, the final itinerary will depend on the weather/conditions, and will be at the guides' discretion. WHAT'S INCLUDED Ferries to and from Mallaig Three-night stay at Knoydart Lodge , Inverie Two days of profeshionally guided mountain running by qualifed Mountain Leaders One optional low level run Optional wild dipping in Loch Nevis sea-loch with open water swim coach (Hannah) A trip to The Old Forge , the most western pub on the mainland Time and space to relax in a beautiful, quiet location Upon booking you will receive a booking confirmation email outlining everything you need to know about your trip. You will be given a prescriptive kit list, as we will need to carry a bit more than usual for running in such a remote area. The magic of this weekend is time spent exploring an untamed and remote landscape, while spending time with likeminded souls! We can't wait to share Knoydart with you. CREDENTIALS At Girls on Hills, our experienced trail running guides are Summer Mountain Leader qualified and/or Fell Running Association (FRA) accredited, with outdoor first aid and mountain rescue team experience. This event comes to you with the support of Inov-8, Teko, Coros and Harvey Maps. We pride ourselves on being 'approachable and relatable' so please do get in touch with any concerns or queries you might have now or nearer to the event. We look forward to exploring some remote trails and having some fun in Scotland's Last Wilderness!
