Join the Dupont Circle Business Improvement District on the first Friday of every month from 6-8 PM for ArtWalk Dupont! ArtWalk Dupont, which occurs on the First Friday of every month, features the Dupont Circle arts community. Each month, art galleries, museums, embassies, and more open their doors from 6-8 PM for a night of special programming. The event takes place at IA&A at Hillyer, located at 9 Hillyer Court Northwest, Washington, DC 20008.
This month, IA&A at Hillyer invites the general public to the opening reception for newly selected artists: James Brown Jr., Dawn Whitmore, and Sean Riley. All three solo artists were selected from Hillyer's Annual Call for Proposals which was released in July 2023. Join the artists in celebrating this momentous occasion, while extending your arts experience during the art walk.
ArtWalk Dupont also offers a variety of other exhibits and experiences for visitors to enjoy. The Embassy of Portugal is showing “Terra Firme/Terra Fragil,” “Firm Earth/Fragile Earth,” by Elizabeth Casqueiro. The Middle East Institute Arts and Culture Center has an exhibition titled "The Sea Of Life: Modern and Contemporary Art from the Kingdom of Bahrain," featuring fourteen artists exploring their connection to their environment through various art forms. The Museum of the Palestinian People sheds light on the ongoing tragedy unfolding in Gaza and the West Bank through their exhibits "The Gaza Pop-up" and "Huna al Quds."
In addition to the exhibitions, visitors can explore art galleries around greater Dupont Circle for this self-guided art walk. This month's ArtWalk Dupont will take place on 2024-03-01 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The event is free to attend and promises to be a celebration of the arts. Don't miss this opportunity to engage with the vibrant arts community in Dupont Circle. For more information and a map of participating art organizations, visit the ArtWalk Dupont website.
