The ButchQueen Pageant 2023, presented by Grace Towers, will take place on Sunday, November 12th, at 6pm at The Castro Theatre in San Francisco. This highly anticipated event celebrates the resilience of San Francisco, Drag, and our communities. After a three-year hiatus, the ButchQueen Pageant returns, promising to be bigger, stronger, and more fabulous than ever before. The theme for this year's pageant is the Soaring Twenties, capturing the essence of a bygone era. Attendees are encouraged to don their most glamorous drag attire and be a part of this magical experience. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go towards funding The Grace Towers Scholarship for the Arts in collaboration with Queens of the Castro, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. This scholarship program has already granted over $175,000 in scholarships to youth pursuing their educational goals. In addition to the scholarship program, Queens of the Castro also brings drag to schools, develops programs for organizations interested in the history of Drag and Queer communities, and runs DragLab, a youth mentorship program that explores the intersections of drag and activism. Furthermore, a portion of the proceeds will contribute to the 2024 scholarship program for Into the Woods, a Queer arts-focused campout in Northern California. This support will help provide opportunities for queer individuals to immerse themselves in artistic expression in a natural setting. Get ready for the eighth annual ButchQueen Pageant! This year's contenders include Paige Turner, Beef Cakes, Rica Shay, La Chucha, Venus Superstar Bizarre, Bretchen Towers, Glamputee, Hennessy Williams, and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
