Ciqikou Ancient Town is a famous historical and cultural street in Chongqing, and is listed as one of the traditional streets that Chongqing City has protected. This ancient town is famous for its rich history and cultural heritage. It is one of the twelve new Bayu scenic spots in Chongqing and is also part of the Bayu folk culture tourism circle.
The architectural style of Ciqikou Ancient Town has the typical characteristics of eastern Sichuan folk houses. The stone slabs and the folk houses along the street are harmoniously interdependent. The house structures are mostly bamboo and wood structures, with cross-beams or half-wooden walls. Most of the shops along the street are one-entry three-room, long-entry deep-house type, and the back room of the shop is generally a quadrangle, which is the residence of merchants and wealthy families. Carved beams and painted buildings, window flowers and lattices are exquisitely patterned and exquisitely crafted. There are mountains and waters in the ancient town, fresh air, shaded by green trees, and people live peacefully and comfortably, preserving the local ethnic life style of China.
