Attend the Connecting Shores launch listening session, a free event taking place at Manor Street Galleries in Stonehouse, Plymouth, UK. This event introduces a captivating 8-part audio-documentary series that delves into the relationship between young people of color and marine environments. Sponsored by Natural England and crafted by Exeter-born sound artist Somatic, the series will air on BBC Radio Devon and Cornwall before being available on major streaming platforms. Through interviews with eight young individuals from Plymouth, each 15-minute episode explores various themes, such as identity formation, cultural sea narratives, and the role of coastal spaces in well-being. By sharing these stories, the project aims to bridge gaps, inspire change, and celebrate our shared love for coastal areas. Somatic, a talented sound artist with English-Indian heritage, leads this initiative. Natural England, the government's nature advisor, supports the initiative as part of its mission for ecological restoration and connection. Join this event to experience a preview of the series, sparking reflections and discussions on these crucial topics.
