Experience Emily Waszak—The Land and Others, Including the Dead at Pallas Projects/Studios in Dublin. This site-specific installation delves into themes of grief, loss, and the intricate ritual vernacular architecture that intertwines with the landscape. By exploring the concept of ritual as a form of mutual aid beyond traditional structures, the exhibition aims to reclaim ritual as a response to the harmful impacts of racial capitalism. Drawing inspiration from community-built grottos and shrines in Japan and Ireland, the exhibition showcases a blend of hard and soft ritual objects, highlighting the nurturing and protective aspects of ritual practices. Woven thresholds frame moving image works, while found materials from the Irish landscape construct a narrative that immerses visitors in this ritualized setting. Emily Waszak, a visual artist based in Donegal, brings her expertise in industrial weaving to create a compelling dialogue through textile, sculpture, and installation art. Don't miss this unique opportunity to engage with Waszak's thought-provoking work, on display from March 28, 2024, with free admission.
