Life Drawing Marathon Foothill College Community Education is hosting a one-day figure drawing marathon event. The figure drawing marathon is a 6-hour drawing session. Students, local artists, and the community in the Peninsula and South Bay area are invited to draw from the live models. There will be four rooms at Foothill College for quick and long pose robed and unrobed figure drawings. Event Day and Time: Sunday, October 27 9:30 AM- 4:00 PM Questions: Hilary Gomes, Department Chair in Art, gomeshilary@fhda.edu Arrival Time/Checking in: Regarding logistics, doors open between 9:00 am-9:30 am and please check in during this time. Please check in no later than 10:30 am. We are unable to admit anyone after this time. You will receive a wrist band after you check-in. Note: No on-site ticket sales available for this event, please purchase ahead of time. Registration closes on Friday, October 25th at 11:59 PM. Event Room location the event is at the Foothill College main campus, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills, CA, 94002. Please spend time reviewing the map before arriving to this event. Foothill College Map Parking Please note that student parking is free on campus. With construction on campus, we ask you to park in student parking lot 6. There will be event signs directing you to the drawing event. Drawing Sessions/Rooms: Drawing sessions will be from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Models will take 5-minute breaks after every 20 minutes of posing. There are four rooms to draw. Room 1602: Quick unrobed poses (2, 5, and 10 minutes) 2 models Room 1601: Long unrobed poses (20-minutes) 1 model Room 1801: Portrait long clothed poses, 1 model Room 1401: Clothed full body costumed poses (quick poses) (5 -20 minutes) (no models stand)(2 models) -Participants who are 18 or older, or those under 18 WITH a signed consent form: may participate in any of the four rooms. -Participants under 18 without a signed consent form: can only participate in rooms 1801 and 1401. -A consent form will be emailed to participants under 18 once they have registered. Please bring with you to the event your own drawing or painting materials. Art materials will not be provided at this event. You may bring your own drawing materials such as pencils, paper, charcoal, or pastels. You may bring solvent free painting materials such as watercolor, acrylic or inks. Drawing Boards and easels will be provided in limited amounts. You will need to bring your own drawing board clips. Digital tablets to draw are allowed but no photography is allowed. Please refrain from taking any photos from our life models or the event. We ask for you to place phones with cameras out of reach during drawing sessions. You will need to bring your own lunch. There will be a lunch break between 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm. Bring your own lunch and eat outside of the classrooms. The campus will be closed on Sundays and the campus food options are not available. Bathroom Locations The gender-neutral bathroom is located and unlock in the 2200 building. Please refer to the map. Foothill College Map Event Rules Community education has the right to dismiss participants from the event if you do not follow all the event rules. Wrist band and registration of the event is a requirement to participate.Please keep personal belongings and materials close to you. You are responsible for your own materials.Please turn off you cell phones throughout the duration of all the drawing sessions. All devices should be turned off and placed out of site of the life models. Step outside of the session to use cell phones.Photography, video, and audio recording including iPads is strictly prohibited in the studio. You may not take photos of the unrobed or robed models.Participants are not allowed to take photos of the event of any kind and place it on social media.Please do not direct the models for poses.No food, beverages or eating during the model sessions.No paint waste of any kind can be poured down the sink. Pour paint waste in the designated water waste containers.No solvents such as odorless turpentines or spray fixatives are allowed in the classroom.You are required to bring your own art materials.You may tip models.Inappropriate language, profanity, towards the model, staff or participants is not allowed.There is no theft, vandalizing or destroying classroom property.Participants are required to clean up after the session drawings.The room must be accessible to all participants.
