Festa Junina do Clube dos Sabiás 2026 | Brunswick Primary School

Ô de casa, ô de fora! Chega mais, minha gente, que o arraiá já vai começá! VEJA A VERSÃO EM PORTUGUÊS MAIS ABAIXO 🎉 You are invited to our Festa Junina! 🎉 Saturday, 13 June | 1pm to 5:30pm 📍 Brunswick Primary School Put on your checked shirts and straw hats and join us for our traditional Brazilian Festa Junina, a joyful celebration full of colour, music and culture. We are bringing together an afternoon of Brazilian traditions, music and community spirit, with something for everyone to enjoy. Expect live music, dancing including the lively quadrilha, often described as the Brazilian version of a Scottish ceilidh with its own unique twist, delicious food, games and much more. 🌽 What is Festa Junina? Festa Junina is one of Brazil’s most loved celebrations. It has roots in Indigenous, African and European traditions and takes place around the time of St John’s Day, known in Brazil as São João. Over time, these influences have come together to create a festival that is rich in culture and closely connected to life in the countryside, simple, lively and centred around community. At Clube dos Sábias, we would really like to share a bit of that feeling not just with our students but with the Brighton & Hove community. There will be live music with Tudo Bem! and Friends, and a Maracatu workshop with Baque da Abelha (pre-booking required) . You can join the “make an instrument” session beforehand, then learn a song with the musicians and play it together with everyone at the end. We will also have stalls, a DJ set, a short presentation from our students, games and a raffle. There will of course be plenty of food stalls, with traditional Festa Junina flavours for everyone to enjoy. We would be very happy to have you there! 🥁 Highlights of the day Live music by Tudo Bem! and Friends Maracatu drum workshop with Baque da Abelha (Pre-booking required) DJ set by DJ Deni from Forró by the Sea Students performance Quadrilha with Tio Lelo Raffle and games And more! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 This event is open to the whole community 📩 If you have any questions, please contact us at: clubedossabias@gmail.com 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 🎉 Você está convidado para a nossa Festa Junina!

Adult Cycle Training - Block of Sunday mornings in June | Preston Park Velodrome
The Ride, Brighton and Hove, BN1 6LA

Adult Cycle Training - Block of Sunday mornings in June | Preston Park Velodrome

This buys a block of three classes to help adults learn to ride a bike or ride on the road. Brighton Bike Hub is running three two-hour long cycle training sessions where you'll be supported by Bikeability trained cycling instructors to get more comfortable riding a bike. This £30 ticket is for all three lessons (£5 an hour), not just the date listed on Eventbrite. Purchasing a ticket gives you a space at three lessons - 10:30am-12:30pm on Sunday 7th, Sunday 14th and Sunday 21st June. You will also be emailed to confirm this. The cost of these sessions has been subsidised with funding from Sport England - the value of them without this would be £35-50 per session. If you cannot afford the £10 per session cost then please get in touch with us as we will provide a small number of free places for those that really need them. Whether you have never ridden a bike before or want to gain confidence riding on the road, these sessions are open for all skill-levels. When you buy a place you will be contacted to confirm what level you are so we can adapt the course to your needs - either practising in an off-road or on-road environment. We strongly encourage you to try and make all three sessions (7, 14, 21 June) to get the most out of the training. A lot of progress can be made in one session, but going to all three will sustain the skills you gain. We are also running a separate block of Wednesday evening sessions, which you can find on our eventbrite page: brightonbikehub.eventbrite.com We will be running these blocks of sessions every month, so you can also buy the block for the next month if you want to continue your training. All sessions will take place from 10:30am-12:30pm, meeting at the south-east corner of Preston Park velodrome, where 'The Sussex Peasant' pin is on google maps. If you do have your own bike and helmet, please bring them. If not, we will provide them. Please contact volunteer@brightonbikehub.org with any questions. Corporate Wild Work Day: Blue Mind: A Beach Digital Detox at Rottingdean | Rottingdean Beach

Step into the rhythm of the tides & leave your devices behind for a restorative day on the wild beach, providing an opportunity to slow down Thank you for thinking of Sussex Wildlife Trust for your staff volunteering days. We would be delighted to organise a bespoke session for you and your colleagues through our 'Wild Work Days' environmental team building programme. Step into the rhythm of the tides and leave your devices behind for a restorative day on the wild beach. With a strong sense of community and collaboration, we’ll explore ocean connection through group activities that blend mindfulness, discovery, and care for coastal wildlife. Together, we’ll tune into the sights and sounds of blue space, take part in guided wildlife identification, and learn how to protect the creatures we encounter. There’s the option to explore birdlife and take part in Wild Beach-style activities, all designed to deepen your connection with the coast. We’ll finish the day with a collective beach clean, leaving the shoreline better than we found it. This is a day to slow down, look closely, and reconnect—with nature, with your team, and with the sea. We do charge for these bespoke events to cover staff time, resources and insurance. The minimum number of people we can run this session for is 6 people with a maximum of 15. Small Group (6-15): £600 + VAT (Prices shown on tickets is for deposit only) A 10% deposit (exclusive of VAT), plus booking fee, is required to confirm your space. VAT will be charged on the final invoice for the full amount. Meeting Point: Meet at Molly's Coffee Shop, Rottingdean Undercliff, Brighton. BN2 7AZ. What3 words: ///helpless.harnessed.promise Parking and charges: Marine Cliffs Car Park, BN2 7HQ, is situated above the beach, is council owned and charges apply. You can pay with Pay by Phone App, location code 85341; by calling 01273 458 458 with credit or debit card or in a PayPoint shop. We encourage you to car share as much as possible. Toilets: There are public toilets, less than 10 minutes walk away from the car park, at the Undercliff Walk, attached to Molly's Coffee Shop (our meeting point). Accessibility: This event takes place in a natural pebble beach setting. If you have any specific access needs that you would like to discuss, please don't hesitate to get in touch. What should I wear? Please wear clothes suitable for the weather and you don’t mind getting dirty. Waterproof layers and a warm layer of clothing are recommended if rain is forecast. You will need suncream and a sunhat if it is sunny as we will be outside for the whole session. We recommend shoes with a grip, such as beach shoes, wellingtons or walking boots with a change of shoes for after the session. What do I need to bring with me? Please ensure you are equipped with your own drink and any food/medication you will require for the duration of the session. If you are attending a full day session, please bring a packed lunch, ideally in a reusable container. It's worth bringing cameras and binoculars if you have them, and we'd love to see your photos, stories and blogs about your day with us. You are advised to be up to date with your tetanus immunisation. We suggest you bring insect repellent as required. At most sites there is no facility to leave bags/valuables. We recommend bringing your personal items in a rucksack which can be easily carried with you. What is provided by Sussex Wildlife Trust? We will provide all equipment to help you collect and identify your finds - and encourage sharing discoveries with the group. Feel free to bring your own tools if you'd like! We will show you how to use all tools safely. A first aider will be available and all volunteers are covered by our insurance when with us. What if my session is cancelled? Most activities will go ahead in rain, snow, wind and sometimes even sunshine! You will be informed if your session is unable to go ahead and a new date will be arranged. If you are not contacted, the event will be going ahead as planned. Cancellation Policy: Please note that cancellation and rescheduling should be by exception only and no later than 10 working days before the arranged date to avoid unnecessary charges (i.e. your employer or funder may incur a charge for cancellations with less than 10 working days’ notice). Please apply the same notice with any changes to number of people which are subject to a minimum charge. Information Source: Sussex Wildlife Trust | eventbrite
