The Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies and the MFA/MA in Collaborative Design + Design Systems are thrilled to present Michael Brenner as part of the Graduate Lecture Series. Michael Brenner is the Head of Design at Data4Change, a non-profit organization dedicated to defending human rights using data. With over 15 years of experience in data visualization and information design, Michael has worked with various civil society organizations, activists, and human rights defenders to drive real change and create lasting impact. Previously, Michael served as the Design Director at Data and Design studio Beyond Words Studio in London. He has also run his own studio and design collective, ContentContext, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. In addition to his design work, Michael has taught at the Willem de Kooning Academy Graphic Design and lectured on design, communication, and lifestyle trends. Throughout his career, Michael has collaborated with prestigious organizations such as the UN, World Bank, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Google, among others. His design approach centers around empowering voices, messages, and ideas through tools and experiences that engage and clarify. Michael believes in thorough research and exploration to gain insight, emphasizing the importance of simplicity and learning from mistakes.
