Details

Join us for the final installment of our “Honoring & Celebrating” workshop series as we celebrate the Fall Harvest at the Savannah African Art Museum in Savannah, GA. This workshop, titled "Honoring and Celebrating African Harvest Traditions - Corn Husk Creations," will take place on October 14th from 11 am to 1 pm in the museum's garden (weather permitting).

During this workshop, we will explore the significance of the Fall Harvest in African cultures, specifically the rituals and ceremonies associated with corn. Corn is a staple crop in Africa, and its importance is marked by various Harvest Festivals celebrated throughout the continent. These festivals, which vary according to different seasons and ethnic groups, are filled with music, singing, and dancing featuring traditional masks and costumes.

As part of our creative celebration, we will focus on corn husks and their diverse uses. In addition to being a garnish and a wrapping for grilling fish, corn husks can also be used for home decorations or brewed into a delicious tea. At the workshop, we will guide you in creating a unique home decoration using corn husks.

Please note that seating is limited, so it is necessary to RSVP for this event. If you have RSVP'd but find that you are unable to attend, kindly inform us as soon as possible so that we can offer your seat to someone else. The workshop will be held in the garden/courtyard area of the Savannah African Art Museum located at 201 East 37th St, Savannah, GA 31401.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn about and celebrate African Harvest Traditions. Admission to the workshop is free. We look forward to seeing you there!
