An evening of music, prayer and celebration with the Yawanawá and Huni Kuin in Brighton. We’re very happy to share that the Yawanawá and Huni Kuin will be together in Brighton for a special evening of music, prayer and connection. This is a rare opportunity to experience both traditions together, something not often seen, even in the Amazon. The Yawanwa and Huni Kuin together at the Brighton Unitarian Church. This gathering brings together voices from the Amazon, carried through song, rhythm and shared presence. Tamani, Yaka and Shane Huni Kuin will be joined by the Yawanawa's as we welcome back Yawa Vay and Wanu, (who we with us in February.) alongside Timo and Sana. Together, they offer an evening that is both uplifting and deeply connecting, rooted in tradition and shared with openness. It is such a rare blessing to see the two tribes together and for those of you who were at Soul Revolution last year, you know the force these five can bring. This is a night of music, song and shared celebration. *The cost of this event is slightly higher due to the fact that we are supporting 7 indigenous. ⸻ What the evening includes Live music, songs and prayer from the Yawanawá and Huni Kuin A shared cultural experience rooted in tradition An open and welcoming space for all. Yaka, one of the founders of MAHKU (Movimento dos Artistas Huni Kuin) and alongside Shane are part of the Kayatibu collective. We'll have a selection of the incredible artwork to view or purchase (although the prices represent the unique nature of this art) and you can check out some of the collective's music here. A selection of MAHKU artwork will be on display during the evening. ⸻ This is open to everyone. No experience is needed, just come with respect and an open heart. ⸻ On the Wednesday prior (27th May) , we gather for a more intimate evening with the Huni Kuin, including a jewellery workshop and hapé circle. If you feel the call to join us for that: Get details and tickets here ⸻ This gathering is part of a wider series, including a weekend retreat with the Kayatibu collective, sharing deeper work with the traditions, music and medicines of the forest. If you'd like more info, please get in touch. ⸻ Practical details Please arrive on time You may wish to bring water and something comfortable to sit on Any questions, feel free to reach out. We would love to have you with us for what's going to be a memorable event. N.B. We ALWAYS strive to make these events as accesible as possible. A fabulous afternoon with Lesley King and Tom Dumont KC sharing their expertise, a chance to socialise with colleagues and more. We have 2 fantastic speakers for this event Tom Dumont KC Variations & Rectifications: how amenable are trusts (and the courts) to change? Limits and potential of the court's powers under Variation of Trusts Act and Trustee Act. Width of powers of advancement or appointment. how far can you stretch rectification - of wills and trusts? Possibilities and pooh-traps for deeds of variation. When all else fails, is there a final trick to be played? While trusts and wills seem to be written in stone, Tom will examine how flexible and malleable they sometimes can (and cannot) be. Lesley King A Private Client Update This session will give an update on the recent developments in Wills, taxation and administration. It will cover the latest case law developments and changes to practice and procedure. It will look at the latest on pensions and IHT. The precise content will depend on events in the next few months but the session is likely to include: • Dealing with recalcitrant beneficiaries • Costs and Larke v Nugus letters • Removing trustees: what to do and not to do • Different requirements for common intention and acquisition construction trusts This is an in-person event. Adult Cycle Training - Block of Wednesday Evenings in June | Preston Park Velodrome
The Ride, Brighton and Hove, BN1 6LA

Adult Cycle Training - Block of Wednesday Evenings in June | Preston Park Velodrome

This buys a block of three classes to help adults learn to ride a bike or ride on the road. Brighton Bike Hub is running three two-hour long cycle training sessions where you'll be supported by Bikeability trained cycling instructors to get more comfortable riding a bike. This £30 ticket is for all three lessons (£5 an hour), not just the date listed on Eventbrite. Purchasing a ticket gives you a space at three lessons - 6-8pm on Wednesday 3rd, Wednesday 10th and Wednesday 17th June. You will also be emailed to confirm this. The cost of these sessions has been subsidised with funding from Sport England - the value of them without this would be £35-50 per session. If you cannot afford the £10 per session cost then please get in touch with us as we will provide a small number of free places for those that really need them. Whether you have never ridden a bike before or want to gain confidence riding on the road, these sessions are open for all skill-levels. When you buy a place you will be contacted to confirm what level you are so we can adapt the course to your needs - either practising in an off-road or on-road environment. We strongly encourage you to try and make all three sessions (3, 10, 17 June) to get the most out of the training. A lot of progress can be made in one session, but going to all three will sustain the skills you gain. We are also running a separate block of Sunday morning sessions, which you can find on our eventbrite page: brightonbikehub.eventbrite.com We will be running these blocks of sessions every month, so you can also buy the block for the next month if you want to continue your training. All sessions will take place from 6-8pm, meeting at the south-east corner of Preston Park velodrome, where 'The Sussex Peasant' pin is on google maps. If you do have your own bike and helmet, please bring them. If not, we will provide them. Please contact volunteer@brightonbikehub.org with any questions. An Evening With Lily King - BRIGHTON | Waterstones
71-74 North Street, Brighton and Hove, BN1 1ZA

An Evening With Lily King - BRIGHTON | Waterstones

Join us an evening with bestselling novelist Lily King. Lily King is the bestselling author of multiple novels, including Euphoria and Writers & Lovers . Her latest novel, Heart The Lover, has already been longlisted for the 2026 Women's Prize For Fiction. Lily has also been announced as a finalist for the the British Book Awards Author Of The Year. About Heart The Lover: Our narrator understands good love stories – their secrets, their highs and free falls. But her greatest love story, the one she lived, never followed the rules. She was in her senior year of college when star students Sam and Yash swept her into an intoxicating world of academic fervour, rapid-fire banter and raucous card games. Their lives became quickly intertwined – with friendship, but also with unpredictable passions and the intimations of first love. Decades later, she is a successful writer, living a comfortable life with her husband and children, when a surprise visit brings the past crashing into the present, forcing her to confront the decisions and deceptions of her youth. Written with the precision of poetry and the emotional tide of an epic, Heart the Lover is a celebration of literature and the life-long echoes of young love. This is King at her very best, affirming her as a masterful chronicler of the human experience and one of the finest novelists at work today. Book & ticket option includes a paperback copy of Heart The Lover (rrp £9.99) available for collection on the night. Information Source: Waterstones | eventbrite
