Leon Hushcha's exhibition, titled "The Art of Leon Hushcha: The Way," showcases his latest paintings and takes viewers on a captivating journey through his cosmic realm of creativity. Hushcha's works explore themes of displacement and disruption, expressing his deep connection to his ancestral land, Ukraine. Through his art, he voices his protest against Russia's intrusion into Ukraine's sovereign territory. With a background rooted in Ukrainian culture and a Master of Fine Arts degree, Hushcha's art has gained recognition both nationally and internationally.
Olga Volchkova's exhibition, "Nature's Saints: Icons by Olga Volchkova," presents a unique take on the traditional style of Eastern Orthodox icon-painting. Volchkova's icons depict fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other plants as divine beings, paying homage to their crucial role in safeguarding life on Earth. Trained in religious icon conservation in her homeland of Russia, Volchkova brings her own innovative techniques to her artwork, using plant-based materials such as gelatin, chalk, garlic juice, and honey.
The opening reception will feature open viewing of all galleries, live music, and insightful remarks from the artists, as well as the Curator and Executive Director. Indulge in sweet and festive treats while exploring the museum's TMORA Shop, adorned in holiday splendor. This exciting event takes place on Saturday, December 2, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with remarks starting at 7:45 PM in the Main Gallery.
Admission to the opening reception is free for TMORA Members, while adults can attend for $14, seniors (65+) for $12, students and active military for $5, and children under 14 for free.
