Opening Reception: Type Out Loud | UCF Art Gallery

Join the opening reception of Type Out Loud, an exhibition curated by Ashley Taylor and Dori Griffin, at the UCF Art Gallery in Orlando. Running from January 11 to February 9, 2024, this exhibition explores the historical and cultural significance of broadsides. Often referred to as posters, broadsides have been widely used throughout history to distribute news, advertisements, social commentary, and ballads. They serve as a visual representation of our cultural heritage, as well as a means of communicating messages to the public. Type Out Loud showcases the design and print process of typographic broadsides, highlighting their power as a form of artistic expression for social, political, and cultural messages. Discover how contemporary poster design influences our visual culture while exploring the rich history of the broadside.
