The Santa Monica Symphony, in partnership with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Westside Coalition, is proud to present the Annual MLK Holiday Concert. This event serves as a profound commemoration of the enduring legacy of Dr. King. The concert will take place on January 13, 2024, at the SGI-USA World Peace Ikeda Auditorium, located at 525 Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica, CA. The Santa Monica Symphony has curated a remarkable program, featuring renowned artists and performers. The talented Gary Pratt will serve as guest conductor, leading the symphony in captivating musical renditions. Notable figures such as Bernard Brown, choreographer, and dancer; John Daversa, trumpet virtuoso; Mary Bond Davis, orator and vocalist; Mawiyah Dowd, exceptional dancer; Tonnocus McClain, powerful orator; Jermaine Paul, skilled double bassist; and Darrel Sims, tenor extraordinaire, will grace the stage with their artistry. The program includes compositions by Quinn Mason, George Walker, James Weldon, John Rosemond Johnson, John Clayton, and traditional favorites like "We Shall Overcome."
