Get your StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Certification at the IronWorks Main Gym. This class is from Dec 21 – 23 from 11am to 5 pm. for $150, covering essential lifeguarding techniques, water rescue skills, CPR/AED training, and first aid protocols. All supplies are included in the course. Open to all base personnel. Limited spots available! This is a blended learning course, and online content will be sent no later than 1 week before the course and MUST be completed prior to the first day of class. Please note that participants are required to pass a pre-requisite swimming evaluation before they can attend the Lifeguard Certification Course. If a participant does not pass the pre-requisite, they will be eligible for a full refund of the course fee. However, once the lifeguard certification course has commenced, the fee becomes non-refundable if a participant does not pass the course. Active duty requiring American Red Cross certification, please contact the Aquatics Office (253-4966). Successful completion of the Lifeguard Course will result in the following certifications for one year: Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED. Students must be 15 years old on or before the last day of the course and must be able to pass the prerequisite skills down below: • Swim 300 meters continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. You may use front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used. • Tread water for 2 minutes using only your legs keeping your arms crossed and hands under the armpits. • Surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface. No goggles are authorized to be used in this event. • All pre-requisites will be completed at the beginning of the course.
