A Summer Intensive with N.T. Wright | 4100 Main St

Join world-renowned exegete and theologian N.T. Wright this June in Houston, Texas, for an intensive 4-day study of Romans 12-16. Where Romans Lands: Romans 12-16 Romans 12:2 calls us to “be transformed by the renewing of the mind.” Many Christians are familiar with this charge, but overlook how Paul defines this task. The final five chapters of Romans are sometimes disregarded as closing remarks after the theological heights of Romans 1–11. But this is where the entire epistle lands. In Romans 12–16, Paul makes the abstract call of "transformation" concrete, unfolding what renewed thinking and living actually look like within the life of the church. In doing so, he paints a vivid portrait of a community shaped by God’s spirit, embodying a new humanity, and drawing the nations to worship through active display of the gospel’s beauty. Join us in Houston for four days of deep study and communal reflection about how Romans 12–16 transforms the imagination and practices of Jesus’s followers today. Together, we’ll consider how Paul’s vision can challenge, renew, and inspire the church in our own moment. Venezuela, Iran, and the Middle East: US Interests and Policy | Rice University's Baker Institute

Join for a conversation with a former U.S. special representative on the evolving intersections among Venezuela, Iran and the Middle East. Join us for an armchair conversation on the evolving intersections among Venezuela, Iran and the broader Middle East, and what these relationships mean for U.S. interests and foreign policy. As Washington confronts mounting instability across multiple regions, questions surrounding sanctions, energy security, regional conflict and strategic alliances have grown more urgent. The discussion comes at a consequential moment. The United States and Iran have entered a fragile two-week ceasefire tied to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, easing immediate concerns about a broader regional war while leaving key issues unresolved, including Iran’s nuclear program, proxy groups and the future of U.S. engagement in the Middle East. At the same time, tensions persist across the region, including ongoing conflict in Lebanon and uncertainty surrounding Iran-backed militias and their role in attacks on U.S. interests. The conversation will feature Elliott Abrams , senior fellow for Middle Eastern studies at the Council on Foreign Relations and former U.S. special representative for both Venezuela and Iran, in conversation with Baker Institute Director David M. Satterfield . Together, they will examine the latest developments involving Venezuela, Iran and key actors across the Middle East, and explore how these relationships shape U.S. diplomacy, security and economic priorities.
