Under Construction's sukkah is ultimately an art object that both honors tradition and seeks to expand on its metaphorical meanings. With a nod to the iconic hunter green construction sheds seen lining our city’s sidewalks for over 20 years, “Under Construction” points to a modern symbol of impermanence and fabrication quite familiar to both Jewish and non-Jewish New Yorkers. We hope this object allows us to ask-- Is the constant change of NYC a picture of our ever changing internal landscape? Could the Sukkah remind us of how we live in a constructed place, this earth, and just like the wandering Israelites— we await a spiritual homeland that dispels our impermanence? On view weekdays below Moshava Art at 2-5pm during the week of Sukkot: October 15th-23rd. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Email info@moshavaart.com with any quesitons.
