In the upcoming term, they are offering the highly anticipated Writers Room 2 - Pitch to Performance course. This 8-week program transports students from the traditional classroom setting into a simulated writers room, where they will collaboratively develop a full-hour live sketch show from scratch. Led by the esteemed Head Writer, participants will engage in weekly pitching, writing, editing, and staging sessions. The culmination of their hard work will be showcased in an exhilarating live performance of the final sketch show. It is noteworthy that students enrolled in Writers Room 2 are not obligated to perform in the show unless they wish to do so. Throughout the course, students will acquire essential skills and knowledge, including idea pitching, receiving feedback, collaborative sketch development, writing for live performance, and the art of editing and re-writing sketches. Moreover, production aspects and show development will be thoroughly explored. To enroll in Writers Room 2, prospective students must have completed Writers Room 1 - Sketch Fundamentals or an equivalent course. Alternatively, individuals with a strong grasp of sketch comedy writing can submit two script samples of their work to training@bigforktheatre.com for evaluation. The course spans 8 sessions, each lasting 2.5 hours, and culminates in the final live show, preceded by a tech run.
