Guest UserI chose this ryokan for my first trip with my parents, which I paid for myself. And I think choosing this ryokan was an excellent decision.
First off, all the staff members were incredibly kind. They explained every service available at the ryokan one by one, and even though my Japanese pronunciation and other things were probably lacking, they listened patiently until the end. If I asked them to repeat something, they would. They were so kind that it made me vow to be even more polite in return.
While I didn't do much at the ryokan, here are a few things worth mentioning:
> We did not use a room with a private hot spring bath.
1. **Hot Springs (Onsen)**
The hot springs are divided into women's baths, men's baths, and family baths. You can use the family baths without a reservation; just go in. It was written that you only need to leave a sign indicating it's occupied.
2. **Adding Breakfast**
You can request breakfast at check-in. They'll ask for your desired date and time (from 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, or 8:30 AM), explain the price, ask how many people it's for, and if there are any allergies to be careful of. Then, at your reserved time, you'll go to the designated area, and they'll guide you to the breakfast dining area. Breakfast cost 3,300 yen per person.
* *After breakfast, which was a delicious kaiseki meal, they hand you a phone and tell you to call them if you want coffee and dessert.*
3. **Taxi Reservation to Yufuin Station**
Since we had to go to Yufuin Station early in the morning, I asked at check-in if a taxi reservation was possible. They said they would arrange it if I just told them the desired time, and thanks to them, we had a smooth ride. This service is free of charge.
* *However, you need to go to the parking lot to meet the driver and get in.*
4. **Cleaning Time**
After breakfast, the staff member who guided us asked what time would be best for room cleaning. I told them my preferred time.
This ryokan created so many wonderful memories that I truly believe Yufuin is only worth visiting for this place, if only you have the money and time. Its location is also excellent, right in front of Floral Village and Yuno-Tsubo Street, offering plenty to see. The walk to Yufuin Station is about 1.1km but not boring at all. I wholeheartedly recommend this place! ๐๐๐๐๐

After reading other reviews, they were all overwhelmingly positive.
Having stayed in numerous hotels, the ANA InterContinental Beppu definitely ranks in my top three.
First, let's talk about transportation:
Beppu Station is quite small. Remember to exit from the West Exit (this was told to us by the hotel shuttle driver; apparently, many international guests wait for a long time at the East Exit only to find out it's the West Exit). The hotel is about a twenty-minute drive away.
Next, the service:
What was really surprising is that more than half of the hotel staff are non-Japanese. Every single foreign staff member spoke excellent Japanese, with perfect mastery of honorifics.
Finally, the room facilities:
The onsen (hot spring bath) is small but beautiful. The infinity pool isn't very deep, making it suitable for children. It was still a bit chilly in March, but luckily, there's a warm pool nearby where you can soak for a while.
The restaurant offers great value for money. Children aged 6-12 get half price, which is around 2,700 yen. In the evening, there's an all-you-can-drink option for adults at 5,000 yen, including sparkling wine, house wine, shochu, and beer.

This was the most stunning place we stayed during our 12-day trip, a true secluded gem nestled deep in the mountains. Upon arrival at the parking lot, we noted there were only a handful of cars, perhaps ten at most. A dedicated staff member was immediately on hand to assist with our luggage. The attention to detail was evident even in the lobby, where staff were seen meticulously cleaning luggage wheels. The decor was luxurious and authentically Japanese. They even have a pillow room for guests to choose their preferred pillow. Our stay included dinner and breakfast, featuring exquisite Kaiseki cuisine. A dedicated server meticulously explained each ingredient, and the meal was served over a leisurely hour and a half, allowing us to fully savor every dish. The service was impeccable. Our children absolutely loved their stay. This hotel is Michelin-recommended and definitely worth a return visit.

Guest UserAn excellent experience! The beautiful environment offers stunning sunset and stargazing views, making it perfect for large families. Although it's a bit far out, the resort facilities provide everything you need, and there's enough to do on-site to keep you occupied all day. The included breakfast and dinner were plentiful, and the location is conveniently close to Kyushu Zoo and Yufuin, so you can easily add them to your itinerary.

A very comfortable stay! The standalone villa offers ample space, and all the in-room hardware and software facilities are comprehensive. My family particularly enjoyed the private hot spring tub and sauna room โ everything is incredibly well-maintained and looks brand new. We brought six suitcases, and even with all of them open, there was still plenty of room to move around. Highly recommend this accommodation if you love spacious living.
The day before check-in, the host emailed us the room number and access code. We were able to complete the online check-in using the link in the email and received a check-in QR code. Upon arrival, we simply scanned the code to complete the check-in process โ super convenient! ๐ Even though it was a completely unstaffed property during our two-night stay, my family didn't feel any inconvenience at all.

I stayed two nights in a room on the 9th floor, so here's my experience. In terms of facilities, the hotel is relatively new and the amenities are quite good. The reception is located in a villa, presumably an extension of an older building, which adds a unique charm. There are only two suites per floor, so the rooms are very spacious. The indoor onsen (hot spring bath) was particularly impressive and very comfortable. The large public bath is in another building a three-minute walk away, located on the first floor as an infinity pool; I recommend experiencing it at sunset โ it's wonderful. As for the food, the kaiseki cuisine here is of extremely high quality, the best of the two hotels I stayed at in Beppu. The restaurant, Matsushu, in the new building, consists entirely of private rooms, the number of which seems to correspond to the number of rooms. Japanese breakfast and dinner are enjoyed in these private rooms, which is very pleasant. I also tried their buffet breakfast in another building, which was quite good, especially the high-quality fruit. Location-wise, there's a bus stop right outside. Whether you're going to Beppu Station, Kannawa Onsen, or a large shopping mall, you only need to take one bus, which is very convenient. Overall, it was a very memorable stay and I would definitely return.

The making in the accommodation is the best!
The heat was also hard to escape and it was very warm!
Only two points, I would say that it would be better if this happened!
First of all, the first point is that I wish I had a TV somewhere!
I wish I could see Netflix and Amapla!
The second point is the sauna facility, but the heat is easy to escape
It was a little disappointing because it was 40 ใ 50 degrees from beginning to end ...
I thought it was very good with aroma in the firewood sauna.
If the temperature of the sauna is about 80 ใ 100 degrees
I thought I had nothing to say!
