Room 554: Great View, but Keycard Was Deactivated Before Check-out Time I booked the room for around USD 68.06 per night, excluding breakfast. When making the reservation, I requested a higher-floor room away from the lift with a good view. I was assigned Room 554, a twin room on the right side of the building, close to the stairs. The room had a very nice mountain view. Overall, the room was clean and well maintained. The beds and pillows were quite soft and comfortable, although the beds were a bit small. The bathroom in the twin room is fully enclosed, so there is no glass wall overlooking the bedroom, which I actually found to be a plus when sharing the room with a colleague or friend. There was no bathtub. Shaving kits were also not provided in the room and had to be requested from the reception desk. **Food & Catering: the snacks served during the coffee breaks were fairly basic and, personally, I did not find them particularly impressive. On the first morning, chicken satay was served as one of the snack options. On the second day, rambutan and longan were provided. Unfortunately, I happened to take one piece of fruit that was already spoiled. Lunch was arranged by the meeting organisers and consisted of Lao food. The taste was fairly ordinary for me. One dish I remember was Luang Prabang-style papaya salad, but the smell was quite strong. The sticky rice was individually wrapped in plastic bags. The portions were also more than sufficient, although most of the dishes seemed to consist mainly of meat, so there was not much variety in terms of vegetables. The main issue: I stayed at the hotel for two nights because I was attending a two-day meeting there, but I made separate bookings for each night. On the first night, I stayed in Room 218. I understood that the check-out time was 12:00 noon. On the day of check-out, my meeting finished shortly before noon, so I returned to my room at around 11:54 to collect my belongings before checking out. However, when I tried to use my keycard at around 11:54, I found that it had already been deactivated, even though it was still before the stated 12:00 check-out time. I mentioned this to the housekeeping staff nearby. She contacted reception and asked me to go to the front desk. When I explained the situation, the staff told me that the keycard system automatically deactivates the cards at around 11:30. I was quite surprised by this because, in all the hotels I have stayed at before, a keycard normally remains valid until the official check-out time, or guests are at least informed in advance if the card will be deactivated earlier. This incident did not ruin my stay, but I hope the hotel can review its keycard policy and either keep the cards active until the stated check-out time or clearly inform guests that the cards will be deactivated earlier.

One of the few upscale hotels in the area, and it has its own generator (which is a huge plus since power outages are common here). We stayed two nights, and the two king beds were an excellent value for money. The front desk staff even spoke Chinese! On our checkout day, it was raining, and they unexpectedly offered us a free half-day extension, which was a wonderful surprise! Highly recommend! 👍

The hotel is located in a stunningly beautiful place - the nature around is simply magnificent, which makes the rest here very atmospheric. A big plus is the staff: the employees are very friendly, always ready to help, polite and attentive to guests. However, the hotel itself, unfortunately, does not justify the declared star rating. Our room was in terrible condition. It clearly requires urgent repairs and modernization - the walls are shabby, the furniture is old, and there are cobwebs everywhere in the corners, which immediately leaves an unpleasant impression. The latch on the toilet door is missing. It is impossible to understand from the photo on the website that the house has a second floor, and this was an unexpected minus. The entrance to the second floor was in our block, so the neighbor constantly passed by us, creating noise. In addition, the audibility in the room was very high - every time the water was turned on or steps upstairs were clearly audible, which greatly interferes with a comfortable rest. Another drawback was the food. The choice of food is very poor, and coffee and desserts were completely absent, which was a disappointment. For a hotel that claims a certain level of service, such moments are unacceptable. Overall, the place is beautiful, the staff is nice, but the level of comfort leaves much to be desired. If the hotel is tidied up, it will be able to live up to its stars, but at the moment the impression remains ambiguous.

The owner was incredibly welcoming and gave me excellent recommendations for local attractions. The hotel offers breakfast with a good variety of dishes. There's also a free shuttle service throughout our stay, which was very convenient! We even forgot something, and the owner went out of their way to help us retrieve it and minimize our loss. For those who prioritize great service and a pleasant environment, this place is a definite must-book!

This is probably one of the best hotels in Vang Vieng. During the off-season, it's not crowded, the views are great, and it's quite comfortable. The hotel's massage service is good, and breakfast is decent too. Just a heads-up, there are sometimes ants in the bathroom, so be careful not to eat fruit or other food in the room.

Provided us the extra mile service to send us with transport arrangement to go money changer and helped book the train tickets for us to ensure we are well taken care during our stay there.

As evening approaches, the sunset gradually paints the sky red, and the mountains and water are bathed in a warm glow, creating a healing and romantic scenery. The room facilities are complete and well-maintained, and the amenities are clean and tidy. Midway through my stay, I asked the staff about the Nam Song River tubing route, and they patiently provided many practical suggestions, offering gentle and thoughtful service. After a full day of tiring activities, returning to the hotel to quietly enjoy the sunset and mountain views truly evokes a strong sense of vacation. Highly recommended!

I chose Thavikun Hotel for my trip to Vang Vieng this time, and my overall stay exceeded expectations. The hotel's location is very convenient; you can experience Vang Vieng's unique karst landscape not far from the hotel, and the surroundings are relatively quiet at night, so you won't be disturbed by noise. The room was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable, and it had good lighting and ventilation. The facilities were complete, with everything you need for a daily stay. The front desk staff were friendly, and both check-in and check-out were smooth. They also patiently answered any questions I had. After a day of exploring, it was nice to relax comfortably. I'm very satisfied with this hotel and would consider staying here again on my next visit to Vang Vieng. I also recommend it to friends traveling here.
