Spirit Airlines (NK) is an American ultra-low-cost carrier founded in 1983. The airline is headquartered in Miramar Dania Beach, Florida. Spirit operates scheduled flights to over 60 destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico, Latin America, and South America. The airline's primary hubs are in Fort Lauderdale (Florida) and Detroit (Michigan). Spirit Airlines was initially established as Charter One, providing charter tours to entertainment destinations such as Las Vegas and the Bahamas. In 1992, it transitioned into scheduled passenger services and was renamed Spirit Airlines. In 2023, Spirit Airlines was the seventh largest passenger carrier in North America. Now with over 11,000 staff members, Spirit has been recognized for its on-time performance and has been ranked as one of the top airlines in the United States for punctuality.
