The Raven’s Cliff Lodge by Marston's Inns
4.2/570 Reviews
I recently stayed at the Ravens Cliff Hotel Lodge by Marston's Inns, and found it to be a clean and comfortable choice for accommodation. The rooms were well-maintained, providing a good night's rest in a peaceful setting. One of the perks I noticed was a discount offered in the restaurant for hotel residents, though it's important to mention that this is only available if you book directly through the hotel, which was a bit disappointing. During my dining experiences at the hotel restaurant, I felt that the staff could have been more welcoming and friendly. While the service was efficient, a warmer interaction would have greatly enhanced the overall experience. Nonetheless, the food quality was satisfactory. Overall, the Ravens Cliff Hotel Lodge offers a decent stay, especially if you're looking for a straightforward, no-frills accommodation with the convenience of an on-site restaurant. It's a suitable choice for travelers seeking basic comfort and cleanliness.

Just returned from a 2 night spa break to celebrate my wifes 40th birthday. Overall the experience was good, from the title of my review there are elements that i felt there were parts of this that made me question its overall 4* rating The spa, gym and swimming pool were excellent (My wife had treatments over the 2 days and felt they were very good), she did mention that one day one the relaxation room wasnt the most relaxing due to a group of other guests talking quite loudly about things you probably want to avoid discussing when in a relaxation room. Her therapist had to also quicky leave to be sick (the girl was very apologetic on her return and i guess sometime these things happen. For me the gym was very well equipped and with a good standard and great variety for various skill levels, a few minor things, the 2 sessions i had in the gym over the days, not once did any of the instructors walk the gym floor and i happened to observe a few people who appeared unsure of equipment use (i work in the fitness industry and that in itself is an issue for me) on approach to the leisure facility door there is a plaque stating that all instructors are REPS registered, again as someone in this industry, Reps no longer exist and haven't for at least 2 years, they were bought over by CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the management of sports and physical activity) These things probably don't matter on the whole to some but they were things i picked up on and are small details that elevate the status of a gym/leisure facility. The food was very good, definitely no complaints, the staff were always polite and attentive, no issues at all on this front and is probably where the hotel scored its best for me. If i could comment on one thing my wife and i happened to be privvy to some of the younger staff's personal conversations at times, i would not say some were discreet in this I initially called ahead prior to travelling and requested a bottle of champagne in the room due to the occasion, this was not there upon arrival, and we were placed in a twin room despite booking a double, in that we had to take our cases down and get rechecked in etc and then back up, the room mix up i had no issues with but was a bit annoyed with the fact i requested something to make the arrival special and despite the reception staff noting this at the time of the call it wasn't done (again the small details that can elevate a person's experience, needless to say i did request this again to which they ended up sending a bottle of prosecco instead of champagne, at that point i wasn't in the mood to dial up and switch it over. The room i felt was what let the experience down, a definite 3 star room, very tired and nothing like advertised, chips and scuffs on the walls, some rust in the bath along side some dirty shower seals, and just very dated furniture with the token yellow discoloured phone. (My wife took a few pictures if anyone from the hotel would like them so that the

We stayed overnight on the way home. Twin room, as the 2 beds are a decent size. The spa has a large pool & 2 saunas & 2 stream rooms plus 2 jacuzzi’s- it was vert busy but open until 9:30pm. I ate in the area near the tv to watch Wimbledon. I had the cheese board & a french martini. I also took a Starbucks hot chocolate to my room. Peppermint tea was a nice addition to the in room drinks. I had an issue when i got back to my room, the connecting door was open, so i called reception & a lovely lady from housekeeping came up to see me & secured the door, but later on that evening, someone in the adjoining room did try to open the door, which seemed strange, as we had been told it was empty, i was asleep but it woke my daughter & she was worried.

Alona Hotel

My friends and I all dropped into the Alona after a walk around Strathclyde park for a coffee and cake, after talking to Shannon who recommended their Dinner menu we decided to stay on and have a spontaneous meal together. The service from Shannon was excellent, we spoke with a young manager too who I noticed was walking around the other tables giving them all the same time and conversation as he did with us (a very attentive young man) I believe he was called Darrel. The restaurant was very busy and had spacious bar area, I found the staff all very friendly and informative while busy they were always available for guests. We have all planned our next visit for a meal next weekend, this time I’ll be leaving the car so I can enjoy a glass of Red!
