We chose this hotel, about a 30-minute drive from home, for a one-night stay so the kids could go swimming. They were so excited before we even left. After checking in, we rushed to the pool, only to be told that children weren't allowed after 6 PM and could only use it after 9 AM the next morning. However, check-out was at 11 AM, which left very little time.
So, I contacted Trip.com customer service to request a late check-out. During the first call, the hotel said they would charge £10 per hour for late check-out. We expressed our dissatisfaction, and thanks to Trip.com's proactive coordination, the hotel finally agreed to a free two-hour late check-out for both rooms. The kids had a fantastic time the next morning, which was a huge plus.
The hotel is newly renovated, and the overall facilities are quite good for a UK hotel. Dinner was also decent, though the steak was a bit disappointing. Luckily, the waitstaff were very friendly and didn't charge us for it. IHG's service philosophy was generally well-reflected.
However, the hotel seemed a bit understaffed. There were only two people at the front desk, so checking in required a bit of a wait. After check-in, no one showed us to our rooms, and the layout was a bit confusing, making it easy to get lost. I hope the hotel can improve in this area in the future. Also, it would be even more appealing if they could add some family-friendly room types.

My 2nd time staying here. Service and environment beautiful. Set in the grounds of university of Birmingham. Very peaceful as not of a public road. Staff are very friendly, decor has a Scandinavian feel. Food is reasonably priced.
Beautiful grounds. Thankfully the heating in the room works. There are however no lifts and the way to the rooms from reception is confusing. But nice staff, and Sherelle at the restaurant who was our waitress was amazing and thoughtful and made sure my team and I were well looked after.
This place can accommodate four people traveling together. It's in a very safe location next to Birmingham City University, and there are two supermarkets downstairs with normal prices. You can take different routes from either side of the hotel to the city center every day. It's very quiet, you can only hear the seagulls. There's also a great Indian restaurant in the area opposite. It's very close to the hotel, you can reach the Canal House (canal-side area) within 2 minutes, and just a short walk from there is old Birmingham.
It was a nice hotel but with phone network I struggled and also only 30min free WiFi daily you have to pay afterwards.
Most times I get closer to the window or the door to get good signal.

Great location – about a 5–6 minute walk from the train station, and Chinatown is right outside the hotel, so it’s very convenient for food and getting around.
The room was quite spacious, which was nice since I stayed here with my partner for a Valentine’s Day trip.
That said, the facilities feel a bit outdated, and the water pressure and temperature in the bathroom weren’t very stable.

The location was perfect within walking distance from New Street Station, Sea life centre, Lego Discovery centre, Art gallery and museum. The check-in staff was super nice and friendly, we arrived earlier but they were happy for us to check in as our room was ready. The room was clean.
This is my second time staying at this hotel. The staff are very friendly, and the service is as excellent as always.

GGuest UserAll staff were excellent always very helpful, facilities need refreshing hotel needs sprucing up, gym equipment tired and ripped Pool small.
Chairs in the bar area either dirty or broken, very busy hotel trying to be too many things to too many people. Tried to book Spa on Saturday or Sunday both full.
Breakfast basic to say the least.
It was a shame, as once again the staff made our stay.

GGuest UserLocation: Perfect
Service efficiency: Perfect
The room size is more spacious than what you'd typically find in London.
My only minor complaint: On several stays, I've found multiple hairs in both the toilet and bathtub. This was just one instance of hair; last time, it was long hair. I'll let you imagine the rest.

AacfadThe hotel's location is excellent. It's about a 10-minute walk from Xin Jie train station, making it very convenient for getting around. Museums, the library, and the canal are all within a 10-minute walk. The English breakfast at the hotel is plentiful and tastes great, much better than outside restaurants. The room was clean, the environment was quiet, and the bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. We arrived early and they allowed us to check in ahead of time, which was great service. The only area that needs improvement is that the bathroom drain is quite slow. This might be due to an older building renovation where the plumbing issues couldn't be fully resolved. Overall, it offers good value for money.

BBumblebee06Hyatt Rengency Hotel Birmingham is a very nice and cozy hotel with great facilities. It offers halal food, and prayer mats are available upon request, which I really appreciated. The leisure facilities are lovely, with a heated swimming pool, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, and spa.
However, my stay was let down by the fact that the room did not have a smart TV as mentioned on the website, which caused a lot of wasted time considering that I planned to stay in most of the times. The hotel eventually upgraded us (to a similar room just a few floors higher) after several contact made to reception and a long wait, but I’m grateful to Kenza for her assistance. On checkout, Nandini was very kind and offered support for my next visit as a gesture for the inconvenience.
There's also an issue with parking, which operates on a first come first serve basis. So if you park your car on day 1 and say you're staying for 3 days, you have to pay for the parking for 3 days ahead which is £27 for 24hr. During these days if you happen to take your car out and come back with no free parking space, you lose your money. Your slot is not reserved. It would be better if they charge us for parking when we are leaving the car park rather than making us pay in advance.
Overall, a comfortable hotel with excellent amenities, but clearer information on room facilities would have made the stay much smoother. I would have come better prepared.
