4-Star Hotels in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan

Pros: 1. The room was huge! 2. You get a full view of Mount Fuji right from the balcony window. 3. The staff were super friendly, and they even had Chinese-speaking staff members. 4. The hot springs on the fifth floor have both indoor and outdoor options. You can enjoy the views of Mount Fuji while you soak. 5. Both breakfast and dinner provided by the hotel were surprisingly delicious, and there was a good variety too. 6. They offer a shuttle service to and from Kawaguchiko Station. Just make sure to look for the shuttle with three hotel names printed on it. You'll need to remember the hotel's English name to identify it correctly, otherwise, you might end up waiting a long time at the station. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Mount Fuji!

I booked this hotel because the promotion made it seem luxurious, but the surroundings feel odd, almost like all the trees have been removed by purpose, littered with dry leaves and fallen branches. It feels dirty and poorly cared for. I was expecting a neatly landscaped area with grass and trees, but instead, the outside feels like a barren, lifeless space. That said, the inside of the room looks very good. The accommodation consists of two separate large caravan‑style rooms. They are not very spacious, but they are sufficient for a family of four. One of the rooms has slightly less living space because it includes a larger bathroom, with a full‑size bathtub. This is something you rarely find in Tokyo, where most bathtubs are quite small, so this was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, we struggled with the bathtub controls as it was written in Japanese, we couldn't use it after all. Also, the heating system are all labeled in Japanese, and there were no clear instructions in English. As a result, we didn’t figure out how to use the heating until the second night. We stayed for two nights in total. There is an outdoor spa area, which is interesting and enjoyable. We used it and found it quite good, although it is small. It works best for two people, three is a tight squeeze, and four would be uncomfortable. The sauna is decent and operates daily. Breakfast is served at set times rather than as a buffet, likely because the hotel only has 14 rooms. Guests must choose a time slot, such as 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30. We chose 8:30. Breakfast is a set menu rather than self‑service. Each morning includes a starter, a main dish, and some small item to finish, well enough for us. The first day was Japanese‑style, with a rice‑based dish. The second day was Western‑style, with a sandwich as the main course and fried eggs with pork belly. The food tasted good, but we would have appreciated more water. We did not ask for refills, as staff left the area after serving. Finding the hotel is a bit difficult. The entrance sign is blocked by a car park sign, making it very easy to miss. You need to drive very slowly, or you will pass it without realising it. We spent several minutes searching before realising this was the place. Be prepared to see a car park with two signs, where one directly blocks the hotel’s entrance sign.

The hotel service was excellent and the facilities were comprehensive. The breakfast quality was high. Although there are trees in front of the hotel, blocking the view of Mount Fuji from the room, you can walk to Oishi Park in less than ten minutes to see it. Transportation is also quite convenient, and the room is very spacious. The only downside might be a few small insects.

Hotel Mt Fuji has the best views of Lake Yamanaka and Mt Fuji. It is located high up on a hill and looks down over the lake. Shuttle bus service to and from Yamamakako iriguchi was excellent. The staff in 7 eleven kindly called for me to be picked up on arrival and again on the second day of my stay. The breakfast was the best in the past 2  weeks of my trip. Japanese breakfast is so delicious. The omelette chef was such a perfectionist and each was made perfectly. Staff were particularly helpful and the public baths , there are 2 different locations ,are excellent, both very different. The hotel itself is very old and dated and could do with a renovation. However saying that, the room was very spacious and comfortable. I loved being able to open the window which had an insect screen and have fresh air. The only thing I did not like is that you could not wear your yukata to breakfast. No big deal really. I would highly recommend Hotel Mt Fuji.

Overall, the stay was good and everything met expectations. The room and facilities were comfortable, and the experience was generally pleasant. The only point to note is that the check-in and check-out times need to strictly follow the hotel’s schedule, unlike some hotels that offer 24-hour flexibility. This may require some planning when arranging travel. Other than that, everything was great and I had an enjoyable stay. I would still consider staying here again in the future.

I stayed in a standard room with a Mount Fuji view this time, and it was much more comfortable than I expected. The room size is quite spacious for Japan, the cleanliness was good, and the bed was comfortable. When the weather is clear, you can see Mount Fuji directly from the window, and drawing open the curtains in the morning was truly worth it. The location is also convenient for getting around Lake Yamanaka, and there are self-service electric-assist bicycles at the hotel entrance, with Chinese language support, which is very handy. Communication with the front desk was smooth, and the check-in process was hassle-free. It's perfect for those who want to quietly admire Mount Fuji.

Last minute booking and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The cabin was extremely spacious, well equipped, warm, and comfortable. Lots of room for our family of five to spread out! We also all loved the PJs! The location is excellent with onsite parking and even a small onsen. We didn’t take the breakfast or BBQ option but had everything needed to cook for ourselves. Best of all was the view - despite the rainy day, Mt Fuji made a guest appearance late in the evening, which we could enjoy right from our cabin.

Let's talk about the ambiance first. I'd give it a 50/100, but the view of Mount Fuji from our high-floor room's balcony, as shown in the picture, was absolutely breathtaking! It was framed by a vast forest, with nothing obstructing the view – simply stunning. For service, the front desk offered Chinese-speaking staff who were incredibly detailed and patient in their explanations, making everything perfect. We also enjoyed a fantastic Kaiseki dinner. As for the facilities, our room was spacious and well-equipped. The bathroom had a smart dry/wet separation, with a separate shower and bathtub. What I particularly liked was the shower, designed for seated use, making it ideal for seniors and children. There's also a decent public indoor onsen. Regarding hygiene, everything else met expectations, but I'm not sure if the hotel had just been renovated. The public hallway had a noticeable odor, and there were several air purifiers placed around. Overall, it's definitely a five-star experience and highly recommended. Great value for money.

A lovely ryokan located about 8 minutes drive from Kawaguchiko station. The ryokan provide shuttle bus during check in, to call upon arrival (I called via trip.com internet call) and wait at platform number 10 for pick up. They also provide free shuttle bus service to oishi park (schedule would be informed during checkingin), and free pick up from Kawaguchiko station everyday during our stay. The staff were helpful and friendly English and mandarin speaking staff are available. The service was great, as this was my first time staying in a Japanese ryokan, so I wasn't sure if every ryokan provide the same service that there is a staff led us to our room and explained the amenities to us during checking in. The breakfast and dinner was superb! We were so amazed by the breakfast and dinner everyday. The room is equipped with fridge, ice water in jug, complimentary drinks and cookies, private shower, towels, hair dryer and outdoor slipper. You can wear yukata that was provided to move around the hotel. The room window and restaurant is facing directly at lake Kawaguchiko, unfortunately it was cloudy during my stay and we couldn't catch any fujisan view. There are indoor and outdoor onsen, with the outdoor onsen offering a Mount Fuji view. Changing room has locker but make sure u bring your room towel to the onsen. And like the other onsen in Japan, facial cleanser, hair shampoo, conditioner and body wash are available. The changing room is also equipped with facial cleanser, moisturiser, body lotion, hairdryer, and comb.

Had a wonderful stay with very good service throughout. The location is excellent, with a beautiful view that made the experience even more enjoyable. A special thanks to Hayasi-san (please forgive if spell your name wrongly) for the memorable tea ceremony and origami experience—it was truly unique and meaningful. 👍🏻 Will definitely revisit again!
