Very Good
AAmy TsukaharaThe atmosphere was lively and very festive. The staff were incredibly polite and attentive and the stay felt very luxurious. The room was also clean and spacious, although the positioning of the hanging lamps was a bit awkward and I sometimes found my shoulder hitting one when getting into and out of bed.
The shower was also very large and decent water pressure and temperature control.
The breakfast was amazing! Many options and very delicious!
The view from the room was spectacular and the staff accommodated my request for a higher room.
The only downsides were the laundry service is incredibly expensive, which was shocking as the hotel I had started in prior to this one did it for free. Also, room cleaning did not come to room one day and I had to make two requests to the front desk to get a fresh towel. It took quite a long time, but eventually did get me a new towel in the evening. The staff apologized profusely for the inconvenience.
Overall, the stay was amazing.
GGuest UserPros:
- Beautiful view
- Daybed was as comfortable as the bed
- One of the most conveniently located hotels in Tromso
- Delicious, well-seasoned breakfast
Cons:
- Hotel amenities are lacking (toiletries, facial tissues, phone to contact conceirge)
- Only one staff member after hours, no form of room service then
- Staff aren’t attentive enough. Notably, towels that were removed were not consistently replaced with new ones (One night all were removed, none were replaced. Another night, all were removed and only one was replaced)
AAndrew林Quite a good quality hotel. Location is excellent. Room is relatively small but still acceptable. This hotel booking includes breakfast. I rank the quality of breakfast to fantastic which it serves high quality of food with traditional Norwayigen food.
RRavissara S.The room is spacious and clean. Great view from the room's window. I really like the room layout and it is beautifully furbished. The kitchen is great because it comes with A COMPLETE set of kitchen utensils. You will never run out of anything. This is also my first time staying in an apartment-like hotel in Europe, so I was impressed by the dishwasher. The floor is also warmed, which I like. Especially, in the bathroom, my feet didn't feel cold at all, unlike other places. I could not use the kiosk to check-in, but it worked just fine on my iPhone. I was worried about using smart key in my iPhone, as I read a lot of complaints from other reviews. However, it worked perfectly, including the entrance, elevator, and my room. I had no issue at all despite my thick phone case. During my stay, I met no staff. Luckily, there was not any issue, so everything was fine. Lastly, the location is the best. it is located in the centre, and there are several supermarkets nearby. Overall, it is a great place to stay and the price is very affordable. I think I will stay here again if I have a chance to return to Tromsø.
TTurkmenbashiAn unpretentious but comfortable hotel in an unbeatable location in central Tromso (the third photo is the view from the hotel window). Highlights include the friendly staff (a shout out here to the ever helpful Petter), tasty and healthy breakfast, and comfortable sitting areas that mean you don't have to hang out in your room.
Given the quality of the hotel it is surprising - and highly annoying - that they don't provide kettles in the room (I even offered to pay a deposit), the more frustrating because some photos on the site show coffee machines: so some rooms do have these facilities. The selection of toiletries is also surprisingly meagre - no shower gel for example, which seems unnecessarily cheapskate. My other gripe is that they need more individual tables in the breakfast room: finding a space at a long table feels reminiscent of youth hostelling...
With these shortcomings noted, the hotel can be recommended and is good value for Tromso.
KKorakotThe hotel is in the center of Tromso which is easy to access all attractions in the city by walk. Good services for tea break and dinner, but food is so so.
Only bad thing was the parking needed reservation in advance and we had not been told before. So we had to park at the public parking and cost for parking per hour was incredibly expensive.
If you are city traveller, I do not recommend bringing car into Tromso or stay outside where there is free parking.
GGuest UserThe hotel is in an excellent location in the harbor overlooking the Arctic Cathedral and right next to Storgata!!! It is a bit old but remains traditional!! Perhaps some renovation in the rooms would be needed! Breakfast is a classic intercontinental breakfast buffet while the dinner is somewhat poor and basic! The fika is a nice touch!! The staff was pleasant and smiling except for the skinny young man on the day we checked in who was obviously bored and wanted to go to school and did not inform us about anything!! We had to ask him about all the procedures of the meals and the hotel while he did not provide us with any other information either about the hotel's facilities or information about the city!
It is worth it just for the location and we would probably prefer it again!! And yes, we saw the northern lights one night from our window across the mountain and above the harbor!!!
EEva wong1129This type of glamping cabin is a bit remote, but the overall atmosphere and environment of the campsite are absolutely fantastic and very comfortable. The living room area inside the cabin is okay, but the bedrooms are a bit run down. We were a party of three, and the bunk beds in one of the rooms felt quite old and wobbly 🥲. Also, it was really strange that we had to make our own beds and put on the sheets!
SsukieThe front desk is located in the bar on the top floor, which offers a magnificent view. I was too tired at night to go up and see if I could spot the Northern Lights. This is more of a business hotel. You need a key card to use the elevators. Most of the staff I encountered were very nice, and the room size is decent for a Nordic hotel. It's true that it's not too far from the airport, but dragging luggage through the snow was impossible. A single bus stop from the airport costs nearly 100 RMB, which is truly shocking Nordic pricing.
UUkyo_xiaojinThe room was tiny. Paying over 2,000 NOK a night for a single room in January, it felt ridiculously small. I've stayed at two different Radisson hotels in Oslo that were much better than this one in Tromsø. Plus, the mattress was incredibly soft, with absolutely no support. At this price, aren't you going to get better mattresses for your guests? The moment I lay down, the whole bed just caved in. The pillows were also useless. After a few nights, my back was killing me, my whole body ached, and my neck hurt. The hotel's location is decent, but it's really not worth the price.
On the last day, my Apple Pencil rolled under the bed. When I lifted the mattress to get it, I found used cotton swabs on the bed frame. Then, while packing, I discovered someone else's clothing tag, fruit pits, and a used napkin behind the mirror. So frustrating.
The only redeeming quality was the decent window view. This terrible mattress deserves the lowest rating I've ever given on Trip.com.
