Beautiful hotel with perfect view of a cathedral from our twin room. Hotel is in a historic building with lovely architectural features by the canal and the room we were in was a cleverly designed ”duplex” with the bathroom and sinks on the upper floor (ie loft) which made full use of the almost double volume ceiling in the smallish twin room we were in. The only drawback was that the steps were narrow and steep and would pose a problem if one had mobility issues. The toilet was located by the door next to the entrance but there was no sink for handwashing. Alcohol gel in a pump bottle was provided. There is a café, lifestyle / clothes shop and supermarket in the same building. Very convenient and the hotel's location was walkable to all the sights in Ghent central. The front desk staff were very polite and gracious and allowed us to store our luggage when we arrived before 11am, since check-in was strictly at 4pm. We were happy to find that our suitcases had been already delivered to our room when we returned to the hotel at 4pm. There are 2 bars in the hotel - one which is open to the public which was buzzing in the evenings and a guest-only ”Honesty Bar” (1st photo) in which hotel guests could purportedly help themselves to liquor and pen down what they had imbibed - but I never saw anyone in it ! This could be due to a lack of ice or mixers. Or glasses. 🍸

I had a fantastic stay! The hotel was spotlessly clean overall, and my room was meticulously serviced, making the environment impeccable. The soundproofing in the room was excellent, ensuring a quiet and comfortable atmosphere perfect for a good night's sleep. The location is superb, offering great convenience for getting around. There are also plenty of dining options nearby, making meals incredibly easy. The hotel's facilities are comprehensive, covering all daily necessities. Overall, it offers great value for money, and my experience was exceptional. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip.

Een kamer zonder bad gekregen terwijl altijd met bad kreeg en de tv ging niet

Mooi hotel, in het centrum op de rand maar toch gemakkelijk te bereiken, parking vrijdagmarkt op boogscheut. Heel ruime kamer, groot bed, mini bar, koffie faciliteit, badkamer met bad en douche, mooi uitzicht op het water. Vriendelijk personeel bij het onthaal, bij het ontbijt iets minder. Toffe ontbijtruimte op het 3e verdiep met zicht over Gent en het water. Ontbijtbuffet goed maar niet luxueus. Dit hotel is zeker een aanrader!

A fantastic hotel with an excellent location right by the canal. The hotel has two entrances: one accessible by vehicle on a back street, and another directly opening onto the canal. Tour boats stop almost right outside the hotel, making it incredibly convenient to pop back to rest our feet after exploring. The front desk staff were very friendly. The canal view was absolutely worth it; opening the window revealed a postcard-perfect scene. You could happily spend a whole day just enjoying the room. There's a supermarket nearby where you can buy fruit and water, and complimentary water was also provided in the fridge. The spacious bathroom was well-equipped with an iron, hairdryer, slippers, and a shower cap. Marriott's quality standards are definitely upheld here. Highly recommended!

Everything was fine. The only issue was that it wasn't clear that parking was mandatory; in other words, there was no way to park on the street without paying. And it was €19 per night regardless of whether you parked on the street (within the complex) or in the indoor parking lot. Also, the gym had two treadmills that weren't working properly, and one of the two exercise bikes was broken.

Hotel excellent, we had a luxury with a beautiful view , comfortable bed, big two-level room, we all really liked it

The facilities are quite old, and you can tell the room is in need of maintenance. What was really startling was that the housekeeping staff actually walked into my room twice without knocking during my stay. If you value peace and quiet, make sure to request a room away from the street, otherwise, the bar downstairs can be incredibly noisy with people talking all night long, especially on weekends. The upside is its central location, making dining and shopping very convenient.

The hotel is in good location and convenient to explore. The room is comfortable, clean and cozy.
