Our unit was warm when we arrived on a Winter’s afternoon, and very comfortable. Everything was clean and well-cared for. There was plenty of seating and the wall artwork was pleasant and appropriate. We liked the Information folder. The shower was not very powerful but was adequate and the bed was comfortable.
Love their hot pools and amenities. Location would be 5mins driving from city. If you have car would be very convenient, I don’t think you can walk to city with this distance.
Very design hotel, good location, across the street is the mall, the only view of the hotel is the hotel interior, parking fee is 30 a night, charging is 45, it is slow charging, superior room is similar to ordinary room, executive privileges and so on confirmed but nothing, the hotel front desk told me that the breakfast restaurant is very delicious, I tried it, it only looks good, no meat, the room is spacious and bright with design, all of which are the best hotel I stayed in this trip except Auckland InterContinental, but it is more expensive than Auckland InterContinental
I recently stayed at Scenic Hotel Southern Cross and had a very pleasant experience. One of the biggest highlights of this hotel is its excellent location – it's within walking distance to many of Dunedin's main attractions, including the Railway Station, Baldwin Street (the world’s steepest street), and Queen’s Gardens. Whether you're in town for sightseeing or just want convenient access to key places, this hotel is ideally situated.
The check-in and check-out process was smooth and efficient, and the staff were warm and welcoming, making the entire stay hassle-free. The room was clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable space to relax after a day of exploring the city.
Another plus is the on-site hotel parking, which is a great convenience, especially in a central location like this.
Overall, I’d recommend Scenic Hotel Southern Cross for anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located hotel in Dunedin with friendly service and all the essentials covered.
A very perfect hotel, with everything you need, washing machine, dryer, dishes, bread machine... the most fully equipped hotel. I am picky and can only accept Japanese hotels. This is one of the most comfortable hotels I feel. It is clean and hygienic
The chalet was absolutely stunning, it had gorgeous views. The staff were all fantastic, welcoming and friendly. I cannot fault a thing. My recent visit was a trip to remember!
I will certainly come back to this hotel when I visit Queenstown again. Thank you.
The front desk is a Chinese male, the service is warm, the room is clean and sanitary, it is a bungalow, and there is no noise from the second floor. It is very close to the place where you can see penguins. There is a panda restaurant not far away that is very delicious. It is great to take it back to the hotel to eat.
The hotel is located halfway up the mountain, about a 10-minute walk from the city center, so the location is quite convenient, though it does require walking uphill. It's easy to get to restaurants and the town center from the hotel. It offers good value for money, with prices better than many other hotels, even though it doesn't have a lake view. This wasn't a big deal for us, as we'd already seen plenty of scenery along the way. The cherry blossoms around the hotel were in full bloom and looked beautiful. Plus, the hotel rooms have been recently renovated, and the two large beds are very comfortable. Overall, I'd recommend it.
Easy to find and within walking distance to the city center, but driving is easier during the evening when it is cold.
Very helpful and nice people always at the reception. Free washing machine and dryer at the same building. Deck has a bit of view of the lake.
Nothing to complain, except was not too sure the slippers were for re-use or not coz looked a bit dirty or not as white, so did not use them.

Very Good
HHuobatuThe hotel environment is particularly good, the proprietress is a Chinese sister, especially good, give me milk, it is very quiet, and very close to the scenic spot, there is a McDonald's and gas station ten meters away, there is a fish and chips 100 meters away, and the Chinese are also delicious but not friendly. In short, the hotel is very clean, the location is good, convenient and fast, parking is very convenient
YYoyo CHThis is my second time booking this place. Definitely my first choice when coming to Queenstown. It’s close to Queenstown airport in Frankly, 20min drive from the busy and crowded Queenstown.
Restaurants and supermarkets are in walking distance (1-1.5km, though you wouldn’t want to walk in freezing weather).
The rooms overlooking the mountains have superb view.
Hotel parking lots are limited.
Ssuki_zhuangThe hotel's breakfast times are very strict. Five families stayed here, and one of them arrived for breakfast at 10 AM only to be denied entry. This meant we missed out on the pre-paid breakfast, which was a significant loss. I would not recommend the breakfast at this hotel; it's much better to head to the city center for some bread and milk, as the hotel's breakfast is truly mediocre. It was, in fact, the worst breakfast I've had during my 15 days in New Zealand.
The hotel itself is pleasant, and its location isn't too far from the city center, which would be acceptable if you're not traveling with kids. However, for us, with children, it was genuinely tiring because parking in the city center is neither convenient nor cheap.
While the hotel's overall environment and cleanliness were good, one minor inconvenience was the old-fashioned, fixed showerhead that couldn't be detached. All in all, this hotel is not very convenient for families with young children.
CCrystalwuThis hotel is a fantastic choice if you're not renting a car. The location is unbeatable, right on Queenstown Bay. Everything is within easy walking distance: boat departures, the gondola, town shopping, a 24-hour convenience store, and nearby bars. It's perfect for those who like to break up their day; you can explore in the morning, pop back to the hotel for a rest, and then head out again in the afternoon. Five stars for the location! However, the bed was too soft and the room was small. While the lobby was nice, the room itself was pretty standard.

LLandersMercure Queenstown Resort has offered very good services with great hospitality. The room given has a great view overseeing a big lake right from the middle. Livin (A name for New Zealander, I suppose) offered great hospitality for us and even treated us a VIP favour by giving an in room slipper.. thank you.. if you are lucky you can even spot a double rainbow…
Superb.. love Queenstown and Mercure Resort..
Also Accor membership is usable here.. bravo..
AAylwinDLocation: The hotel is located close to the Queenstown airport but approximately 15 mins away from Queenstown itself.
Parking: There is no parking bays at the Hilton (only valet) itself but it shares with Doubletree which is limited. Due to some maintenance work, level P2 was closed off and had to park in a reserved slot for the night. Cost of parking is NZ$ 16 per night.
Rooms: This is where my issue lies, the room temp is centrally managed and it was freezing at night especially with the floor to ceiling windows. Had to go to the front desk for portable heater and extra blankets on the 1st night. Bathroom is non-heated (with tiled floors) so extra cold in there. In most places we stayed in NZ, the bathrooms had heated lamps overhead for comfort. I requested the accessible room for mom and it was provided as requested although the location of the room was on one end of the building which is a distance to walk.
Food: Breakfast was a good selection and ran from 630 to 1030am.

GGuest UserThe hotel was almost walkable from the airport. We arrived early Saturday morning and enjoyed the market right over the road. As we were early to the hotel we got our instructions and returned later, lovely receptionist.
We did not eat at the hotel but there is a cafe on the ground level which closes around 2.30 but the smell from fresh bakery and coffee was pretty good.
Self catering was good with basics. We had a faulty fridge and had just bought supplies but the hotel, although almost time for staff to leave, found us another room with an upgrade. If you are a fussy camper, you could say fittings in bathroom were ”cheap” and scuff marks on walls (all white so they show more) but it was perfect for us. Overlooking building sites and other buildings but just look up and there are the mountains in their splendour.l Cost was reasonable and as parking is pricy in Queenstown it was good to get free parking at the hotel.
GGuest UserMay 2025 stay. There are no bedroom slippers and the design of the toilet doesn’t quite make sense to me, it has gaps between the doors hence it’s super cold when i get out of the shower even when i already turned off the aircon. Shower screen glass is not totally opaque which can be awkward. We also requested extra hangers 3 times as we had a long stay and only got it the third time we asked. Otherwise, i think the room is cozy. Breakfast is standard everyday. Location wise you need to walk down the hill to the central area and walk back up which can be tiring.
Caught a rainbow on one of the mornings during our stay :)
