I really enjoyed my stay at Protea Hotel by Marriott O.R. Tambo Airport. If you need somewhere to stay before or after a flight from O.R. Tambo, the location is incredibly convenient — the hotel is only about 3.5 km from the airport and provides a complimentary airport shuttle, which makes travelling so much easier.
The first thing that stood out to me was the aviation theme. It’s carried throughout the hotel, from the aeroplane-inspired artwork to the industrial-style furniture and décor. Even my room continued the theme, which gave it so much more character than a typical airport hotel.
My room was clean, modern and comfortable, with a very comfortable bed, TV, tea and coffee facilities and a small fridge. I also really liked the rainfall shower and the overall open, contemporary bathroom design. The hotel’s rooms are soundproofed too, which is definitely appreciated considering how close you are to the airport.
The hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool, a 24-hour gym and an on-site restaurant called The Warehouse, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room service is available as well, so you really don’t need to leave the property if you’re only there for a short stopover.
What I liked most was that it actually feels like an airport hotel in the best possible way. ✈️ The aeroplane photographs, aviation-style furniture and little design details make the property interesting and memorable rather than just somewhere convenient to sleep.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Protea Hotel O.R. Tambo Airport for layovers, early-morning flights, late arrivals or even an overnight stay between connecting flights. Comfortable, clean, convenient and literally minutes away from the airport.

From check-in to departure, everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the entire stay feel effortless. The complimentary airport shuttle runs every 15 minutes and was perfectly on time, making transfers to and from OR Tambo stress-free. And the breakfast — wow. Easily one of the highlights of the stay. A generous spread, well prepared, fresh, and honestly to die for. Overall, a really solid, comfortable hotel that delivers where it matters most: service, convenience, and food. Will be back again.

I had such a lovely stay at Weston Guest House Krugersdorp. The property is in Noordheuwel, Krugersdorp, and the whole place has such a peaceful, private atmosphere.
My room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. I especially loved the bedroom and the big comfortable bed, but the highlight for me was definitely the spa bath/Jacuzzi. 😍 It made the stay feel like a proper little getaway rather than just somewhere to sleep.
I also loved how much space I had. There was a separate living area with a large TV and comfortable seating, a dining/work area, and a proper kitchen with a large fridge, microwave, stove, kettle, toaster and plenty of cupboard space. If you’re staying for a few days and don’t want to eat out all the time, having a full kitchen makes such a difference.
The room gets beautiful natural light, and I loved sitting by the large windows in the morning. The property itself is in a quiet area and is known for its views, which adds to that peaceful, away-from-everything feeling.
Everything felt comfortable and homely while still giving that romantic getaway feeling. There’s also free Wi-Fi and private parking, and the guest house has a pool and other facilities on the property.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at Weston Guest House and would definitely stay here again. I’d especially recommend it for couples, a relaxing weekend away, or even a solo stay when you just want somewhere peaceful, spacious and comfortable.

The rooms are modern, stylish, and impeccably clean, with comfortable beds and thoughtful amenities that made it easy to relax after a long day. The attention to detail throughout the hotel is impressive, creating a luxurious yet comfortable atmosphere.
One of the biggest highlights is the hotel’s excellent location. It’s conveniently situated close to Sandton City, Nelson Mandela Square, and the Gautrain, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travellers.
The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of fresh, delicious options, and every meal I had at the restaurant was of excellent quality. The facilities, including the gym, pool, and spa, are well maintained and add tremendous value to the overall experience.
What truly sets The Catalyst apart is the exceptional customer service. Every member of staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable, always greeting guests with a smile and a willingness to help.
If you’re looking for a modern, comfortable, and well-located hotel in Johannesburg, I highly recommend The Catalyst Hotel. It offers outstanding value for money and delivers a level of hospitality that makes you want to return. I will definitely be staying here again on my next visit to Sandton.

GGuest UserThe excellent location and room facilities are expected of a 4 star hotel. Reception has been accommodating for early check in too. The only aspect we do not like is the design of the shower with not much privacy as you can see through the glass, when someone is showering. No screen for the shower causing wet floor outside the shower.

GGuest UserThis is a great hotel , in a good location. The check in was smooth, room service is a bit slow though. House keeping is excellent, I like them so much . The facility is great but I didn’t like the pool area , is always packed with so many people. Some of them weren’t even guest at the hotel . Which make it a bit unsafe to leave your belonging just lying around. I mean you have to pack up everything every time you go to the loo. The pool area had no space to sit and chill on especially in the afternoon. The bar takes a bit long to prepare drinks . The waitress/waiter were amazing. I just didn’t like the check out time . 10 am it’s too early and they weren’t keen on extending with just one hour . I don’t think I’ll book again . Safety issues. If other people didn’t have that much access to the hotel I wouldn’t mind staying there again.

The only thing is if you’re booked into a room further away, you must know that if it is raining you have to walk outside and to the entrance to fetch your food orders or get your uber — only downside.

A great option if you’re looking for a hotel close to O.R. Tambo International Airport. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and convenient for an overnight stay before or after a flight.
Pros:
* Very clean rooms and common areas.
* Convenient location close to the airport.
* Friendly and professional staff.
* Comfortable beds for a good night’s sleep.
Cons:
* There are stairs in some sections of the hotel, which made it quite difficult to move around with heavy luggage.
* There was a noticeable noise coming from the air conditioner during the night.
* Guests are still required to fill out a paper check-in form, which feels outdated since most of that information has already been provided when booking online.
Overall, I had a pleasant stay. Despite a few inconveniences, it’s a comfortable and practical choice for travelers needing accommodation near Johannesburg Airport. I would stay here again, especially for the convenience before an early flight.

Dd2vrecordsI had a very pleasant stay at Hyatt House Sandton. The hotel is calm, safe, and in a good location, with easy Uber access to Nelson Mandela Square and Rosebank Mall.
The staff were excellent and very welcoming. They allowed me to check in early before the official time, and on my birthday evening I returned to my room to find a surprise birthday cake waiting for me. Such a thoughtful gesture.
Breakfast was good, but remember to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste.
Overall, a comfortable stay and I would definitely come back again.
