Neu-Ulm Homestays

This is the third time we have used this hotel as a stop on our way to Italy. We had issues with vehicle on way down so phoned hotel to let them know and key was put into a safe by the door, which was simple to use. We had a family room, which are very spacious and plenty of room for the 4 of us. The first issue was the parking, or lack of it. There seems to be lots of other apartments around the hotel now, all vying for parking space, so either be early or be prepared to park your car on the street and have a walk with your cases etc to the hotel. Maybe a barrier system should be installed so it can be controlled better. The restaurant has changed from the traditional German affair and become an Indian one so limiting the choice for travellers. The breakfast buffet was nowhere near as good as it was before, even though there seemed to be lots to choose from, the quality just didn’t seem the same.

We stopped here on the second night of our driving trip from England to Croatia. The hotel is as basic as it gets, the room was ok but without air conditioning it was very stuffy. Our room was the closest to reception so there was a bit of noise but not too much. The breakfast was basic but ok, there was some mouldy fruit in the fruit bowl and one of the boiled eggs was completely raw. I wouldn't stay here again but it fulfilled it's purpose for us.

The room was well furnished and clean. The location in the middle of Neu-Ulm is optimal, to the Danube river it is about 100m. The reception is friendly. Parking problems I didn't have because my bike found a good place in the bike cellar. But breakfast was not something for me, because as an old man I don't eat so much, so I would go 100 m away next time, compared to the council house there is a cafe with bakery there I find more like my taste. But this is not a reason to take a star off, because it's personal taste. What's a little disturbed me is the fact that I haven't seen anywhere in Corona's times desinfectants.

This was simply the best stay in a hotel we have ever had. The Staff were exceptional, the rooms were brilliant and the service like we received nowhere else. Our journey was so stressful with a breakdown in Germany, and the Staff at Rioca, could not have been better with understanding and helping us to rest and get on with our journey. One of the finest Hotels I have ever stayed in, because of the Staff. Oh, and the rooms were fabulous too.
