El Puerto de Santa Maria Homestays

We stayed 2 nights on easter holidays. We were 4, 2 adults and 2 kids, and choosed a family room with ocean views. The room was quit big, with a big bad as well, two double beds, frigo, and one TV set. There was a balcony, although we couldn't enjoy because it was windy. The hotel has a spa, gym, and free parking. We use the gym, wich has many options, more than enough to make some exercise. The hotel is in front of the ocean, so the views are amazing. We have breakfast, wich was quite good with plenty of options to choose from, with eggs and bacon done in front of you. Probably the quality of some products could be better, but for the price and being a 3 star hotel we didn't have any complaint.

Once we had negotiated the narrow streets and found the entrance to the underground carpark, we were feeling ready for a rest. The hotel itself has retained a lot of its charm as a former monastery, with antique furniture dotted around and a magnificent main staircase. The room was mercifully not overlooking the street but towards the back, so it was much quieter. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom, although a little in need of some updating, was spacious and everything worked. Breakfast was copious, served in a huge dining room. On our first morning, we were up very early as we had to get to Jerez on time, and so we were together with a large party of elderly Spanish tourists. There was an unpleasant episode with the waiter in charge of breakfast, who started shouting at me in Spanish that I h ad come in the wrong door and didn't I realise this?? It was a complete overreaction and totally unnecessary. He never really apologised and it left a nasty taste in the mouth. Generally the staff were OK, but not particularly friendly or helpful. But as we were only staying 2 nights, and were out most of the day, it wasn't a big deal. The restaurant had been closed, presumably due to the pandemic, so we went out on the 2 evening we were there, which we probably would have done in any case. I wouldn't not recommend this hotel, but it's a pity that the staff were not more accommodating .
