Beautiful Palace in a wonderfully relaxed location right on Lac d’Annecy with a direct and private access to the lake. The hotel itself is rather on a 4* level and could do with some refreshing. In the rooms, many edges have splittered off painting and the last renovation have clearly been done “on a budget”. Staff would need better training to be up to 5 star: long waiting times on reception, untrained staff making lots of errors in bookings and in giving infos. Two real downsides: 1) Spa: no real spa there but just a (nice!) indoor pool and a hammam. The only treatment available are 3 different massages however when booking they’ll never ask you what you choose but just the duration. The quality of massage was little professional. 2) The restaurant: untrained staff, almost rude (she insisted on knowing our dessert choice even before we started our appetizers as “it makes it easier for me”). Quality of food was clearly below expectations. Oversalted, heavy in cream and lack of taste.
