Casa Morasan Hotel-Boutique

There was a WOW moment when I first saw the room (exposed brick and stone walls, unique electrical wiring, gorgeous bed, robe and slippers). But the room is always dark with no windows and It gets quite cold by morning. Blankets are perfect, but the robe is very light. I wish they had a heater. Staff is welcoming and helpful. Common areas are lovely, there is a cute display of some old household items. Breakfast is ok. Location cannot be better - in the historic center with its beautiful architecture and central square steps away. There is a tourist info office in the square. Good food places are very close; Patsy has an amazing ambiance, and Xelapan offers delicious baked goods. Little tiendas with water and snacks are everywhere. Just off the square alongside the cathedral there is an indoor shopping mall with a huge selection of artisanal textiles and souvenirs. I liked the stroll to Minerva Market and back. The Minerva temple is stunning, and the market is overwhelming. A much smaller version of the market is right on the street (literally ”on the street”) where the hotel is. Overall, I had a very nice stay in Casa Morasan and will gladly recommend it to future visitors.

parking lot was occupied always. The staffs are not good. They asked me to wait 3 pm because their check in hour is that. it is O.K. but they offered to early check in at 2:30 with lower grad room without notice. When I asked whether it is same grade room or not , they didn't reply to me and then the other lady came to me it is not same room but they are offering with goodwill . Without notice of changing the room to lower grade is good will for this hotel. When I complained what is goodwill, the other lady came to me and said it is same room. eventually I could take room over 3 pm. they didn't come to me until 3:10 and they just said they use take room when I went to the front desk even though I sit on the chair front of their desk. I think they offered with purpose and it was came from their management. Hotel is not bad but it is not good experience. I stayed in this hotel with very bad feeling.

The hotel is lovely, clean, and centrally located in Xela. The staff was friendly, the beds were comfortable, the hot water was plentiful, and the ambience was fabulous. What got me to leave the review, however, was that I left a valuable item in my room and before I even knew it was missing, they chased me down on the street to return it to me. That level of honesty and integrity is invaluable. Can’t wait to be back!
