Hotel Giri Inn

This is a small budget hotel. Decent one with basic facilities. But mm t has charged exobriantly for this. At-least rs 3 to 3, 500 extra on total price. As usual once tou pay full amount no one refunds or even give a heck about your dissatisfaction! this is what happens. So next time i will be more careful while booking a hotel through mmt. Instead contacting the property/ hotel directly for reservation, is a better idea. Bottom line, use mm t for bus, train, flight booking. Don't use it for hotel booking. Mm t overprices them!

Nice place with main market at walkable distance. Best part is owner Mr Antony, who was very helpful, polite and friendly and helped a lot right from booking to giving advise on cab booking etc. He was willing to listen to every query and answer it to utmost satisfaction. Would recomment purely based on behaviour of Mr Antony.
Hotel the Royal Shalimar

I would recommend not to opt for executive rooms considering there is no ventilation and you will not get to know whether it is day or night. Also, due to no sunlight, air or nature presence in this room stinking happens and also you could find many bugs. The staff's responsiveness is very poor and also when asked for ice cubes i could find a baby cockroach freezed. Hygienic is the issue. For me this place is suitable for those who can manage to stay for a night where a wedding is happening in the same venue like the marriage hall rooms.

We had a very horrible experience at this hotel. The hotel is old and dirty. The pictures given over here are doctored and do not believe them. We found large piles of unwashed bedsheets, pillows covers, towels in the corridors giving a stink from the days it has been piled up. There was piled up garbage like used plates, balloons, paper decors etc from a previous party all on the corridor to the room. There was garbage everywhere in the corridors. Worse was the room. The walls were dirty. The room smelt bad. Horrible was the bed linen. They were dirty with large stain marks everywhere. They were clearly not been washed for some time now. It was apparent that the hotel does not wash its linen. They give their guests used bed linen from other guests. The pillows were not clean and there was hair everywhere on the pillows from the previous guests. The towels were not very clean as well. I came to know from a staff that the hotel is mostly understaffed and housekeeping is done by just one or two persons. He also told me that the owner has not changed bed linen for a long time now and just managing with old linen. We checked in during the late evening. The front office guy was unprofessional and he made us wait for 30 minutes to hand over the room key saying that there was no staff to help us get to our rooms. I am totally surprised to see some of the good reviews of this hotel in TripAdvisor-I was fooled by them to book this hotel. Clearly, these reviews are fake or have been done by friends and family. I am also very surprised that TripAdvisor carries this hotel amongst its recommendations for Chikmagalur- I am increasingly getting sceptical of Tripadvisor ratings and recommendations and will not follow them in future. Strongly urge Tripadvisor not to recommend this hotel in their list of hotels.
The Silver Sky Hotels and Resorts

HIDDEN GEM IN COFFE PLANTATIONS We stayed at Sliver sky resort for new year eve from 31st dec to 3rd Jan. We stumbled upon Silver sky by chance, we had a wonderful stay, new year eve gala was well organized and fun filled, we even won lucky draw ( prize was free one nights stay for couple ) The resort is just 11 months old, very well maintained, the rooms are spacious and well equipped, and quality of furniture and amenities ware of top class, comparable to top resorts we visited in Maldives. The resort is amidst the coffee plantation with beautiful view of mullayanagiri peak( 45 min drive form resort ) from room balcony, you can spend whole day in balcony with a book in hand, resort is 20 min from chiakkamagalur city with good road accessibility. The pool was kept clean, couldn't use it much because of cold weather, but the play room kept us busy after breakfast and dinner. Food was great Chef Ashok was of grest help in getting the food tailored to the palates my European wife and kids and restaurant staff Eshwar, shivanand service was top class. the front office staff Mani and Pratap ware always ready to help us. We got a chance to meet the owner and managing director , she was a very nice lady, with preference for good service rather than money, rare to see in these days. We loved the place so much we extended our stay for one more day, we left the place with good memories hoping to return to Silver sky again in the near future. Pros : Easy accessibility, well maintained, spacious rooms, good service and tasty food Cons : Nothing i can think of , may be a heated pool ( May not be practical for south indian weather ) Room advise - Choose a higher elevation room for good views.
