Bbvc Hostel Collegestay
4.5/51 Reviews
I recently had the privilege of staying at the Bhavana Bodhigun Vocational College (BBVC) in Koh Samui, and it was truly an inspiring experience. Having a corporate background, I’ve stayed in many different places, but BBVC is so much more than just a place to rest—it’s a purpose-driven movement. This vocational college doubles as a hostel, with all proceeds reinvested to provide free education, meals, & accommodation to underprivileged Thai youth. Their mission to cultivate the next generation of Thai-talent really resonated with me, and it was deeply rewarding to know that my stay directly supported such a meaningful initiative. The atmosphere at BBVC is serene, deeply rooted in Buddhist principles. The morning and evening meditation sessions create a grounding energy, and the staff—students in training—are as warm as they are professional. The rooms are simple but comfortable, offering a homestead or farmstay vibe. I also took part in the evening meditation sessions, which helped center myself and embrace mindfulness. Staying at BBVC isn’t just about enjoying Koh Samui—it’s about having a positive impact while stepping away from the busier parts of the island. If you’re looking for a unique experience that blends relaxation with purpose, I highly recommend it to anyone who values meaningful travel! (Quick tip: I got lost in the jungle, so make sure to enter the full name of the school on Google Maps—it will take you to the correct location, not the one up the mountain along a dirt track.) :)
Khao Sok Riverside Cottages

WOW! What can we say about the Riverside Cottages? Within 10 minutes of our arrival we’d already seen a Mangrove Cat Snake gracing us with its acrobatics from the restaurant/reception area balcony. We were in F11 lodge which was perfectly located for all the amenities. Reading other people’s reviews we expected excessive jungle noise in the evening, but we didn’t find this to be the case. Yes, you can hear crickets and chicadas as well as birds but nothing too bad. We also booked on to the overnight lake tour which was INCREDIBLE! A real must and the highlight for us taking a kayak out to a nearby bay and peacefully watching the gibbons and macacs give us our very own insight in to their play and survival in the jungle. Staff amazingly friendly and helpful, everything you need. Remember to take cash as no cards accepted. Frequent free shuttle in to nearby Khao Sok town where you can get a drink or access the National Park.
Sairee Sairee Guesthouse

Sairee Beach
Kind on the pocket...Sairee Sairee Guest House is clean, basic, affordable accommodation, simply decorated in a contemporary industrial style. The room is adequately appointed with everything you need including both a/c and ceiling fan, television, safe, ensuite bathroom with shower gel and shampoo; and there's a little verandah on which to chill. It's not luxury, but it's perfect.....comfortable and spacious and excellent value. We stayed for over a week and we were very happy there, slept well and would definitely stay there again. The location is perfect, close to the beach, popular eating spots, bars, pharmacy, 7-Eleven, grocery stores, clothing boutiques, tattoo shops, mo-ped hire etc. There is an onsite restaurant. It's not the cheapest in town but not very expensive. We ate there on our last night and we were super impressed with the food. They also do a good cup of tea, especially when paired with their chocolate brownie....a winner after hiking the steep hills of the island. The owners were just lovely and the staff all very friendly and helpful. Definitely a winner!!!

Lamai Beach
No hotel claims. Excellent everything. Staff responsive, rooms in good condition, clean, cleaning daily except Sunday, location is wonderful. At the price of quality - probably one of the best gesta in the district. Beach towels can be taken on the recipe. There are no tea in the rooms, but on the 2nd floor there is always a boiler and tea/coffee. Out to the sea through the Aloha resort. There are no lying.

Choeng Mon Beach
SCAMMERS ALERT!!! First the lack of hospitality. We booked last minute we were supposed to go to Koh Tao island but because of bad weather we were unable to go there. Whe check in procedure was as with every hotel, however we started to feel immediately like criminals when they demanded 3000 baht deposit by credit card because we wanted to check out early to go to the ferry for Koh Tao. I asked why we have to pay so much money which is double the price for one nights stay and they said the the have a flat TV and we might steal or damage it. (The TV never worked by the way it looks that they had unpayed bill to the satelite service. The remote had dead batteries. the whole setup was disconected from electricity. ) Also they mentioned that the money will show in my bank 30 days after (which is strange refunds are done instantly or at max 4 work days in 2023). The botom line its now 2 months and still trying to get my money back. They are using my money probably for pay their bills and their policy is to refund when its convenient for them. Save yourself of being scammed and get another hotel.

Lamai Beach
A good location to spend a night on the way between Chaweng and Lamai, close to Coral Cove. You'll need a motorbike or a car to get around though. The staff allowed me to do an early check-in early and a late check-out. The view from the room is great. The biggest downside of the stay was the water pressure in the shower, which is super low. Also, there was some sand in the bed, and the blanket didn't have any cover.
Magical Mountain View Resort

”We had an amazing stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was clean, comfortable, and all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay. Although our stay was enjoyable overall, we were disappointed with the food quality at the hotel restaurant. While the presentation was nice, the taste of the dishes left much to be desired.

When checking in, it was not explained that the room was not cleaned every day by itself. You have to leave your room key in a basket at the reception if you want it. Also as usual in Thailand you get at least water bottles, included in the price in the room. It doesn't exist here. Only a water dispenser, not chilled with tiny glasses because otherwise it would be empty in the restaurant. Bottled water is only available for purchase. Bungalows are tiny and very gloomy due to the dark walls. Everywhere nails in the wall but no pictures. Black mold is also spreading on the wardrobe, if you can call it that. Cloth shelf (see pictures) far too little space for 3 people. You only get a towel that you have to use for your body and face plus hands. Towel for the beach (you can't swim at all) you don't get one without asking. Everything wouldn't be so dramatic if you at least felt comfortable. The boss hardly gets a hello out. Your employees are great but sometimes very stressed because there is only one person for each area. Also reception and restaurant. I can then understand very well. When several people arrived and were already annoyed, she helped a little for the first time. In Thailand, friendliness is very important, but the boss doesn't practice it here. Oh yes, it takes 13 minutes by moped to get to Thong Sala. There is something going on there and there is a super food market. The hotel itself is not really what. Couple of small restaurants. So if you go there and want to experience something or swim, you have to rent a moped. Will go back to my old resort next time.

Very close to the railway station. The location is great if you aren’t going to the islands and just wanna take a train somewhere else. Affordable and we have nothing to complain about here.
Pott Guesthouse

Chaweng Beach
15 minutes walk from Chaweng Beach, which was convenient enough. There was a hiccup during check in as the hotel didn't recognise my booking through trip.com, but this was quickly resolved by trip.com customer service. The fan room was spacious and even had a balcony for the already decent price. No pub noise from the area. I highly recommend Pott Guesthouse.
