FANTASTIC experience right from the moment I checked in. The hosts are super friendly and helpful, and even drove me to a shop nearby when I needed a SIM card. The property itself is PERFECT if you need a few days to relax and unwind after a stressful series of flights! The garden is lovingly manicured and even has a pool, which was a nice surprise. They also have a FREE shuttle service from and to the airport as long as you let them know when you need it. The hotel is only 5 minutes drive from O.R. Tambo airport too, so don't get scammed (like I did) by the airport taxis (they charged me 250 rand for a 5 minute drive!). The hotel has its own kitchen and menu and will deliver meals to your door, and they also have a small shop with toiletries, etc. which came in handy. WiFi is good too, even for video (definitely better than the airport's!😅). So, next time you're heading to Johannesburg, definitely book Emerald Hotel. Now I just wish I had booked 5 days instead of one! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I stayed at the Melville Turret for 9 days, alone, split between work and vacation. Everything went very well, and I highly recommend this Guesthouse with its welcoming, friendly, warm and smiling staff, always available to meet any need. I had initially booked a room for only 5 days, I had no problem extending this stay directly on site. The rooms are clean and well appointed, as are the collective areas. Very pretty interior courtyard. Breakfast is generously prepared by Prisca, incredibly kind and with whom it is very easy to exchange and share (I miss your smile :) ). The street and the neighborhood are calm and safe, we are close (10 min walk) to activities / bars / restaurants on 7th. I could not have asked for better for a first experience in Johannesburg. My husband and me, we traveled to ZA for the first time. Our first stop was at The Ashford guesthouse. That was actually a perfect choice! :-) I really loved their fittings and furnishings on the whole property. Everything was so lovely! We stayed there for 4 nights. The staff has been unbelievable great, too! As we are booth vegans, it was difficult to find the right accommodation. But the guesthouse staff is open minded to create a vegan breakfast every morning. It was delicious! The situation of the guesthouse is good, as you have the chance to walk to the Rosebank Mall close by. There, you can find lots of shops and restaurants. All in all, we definitely recommend this place! As we won’t make it to the Kruger NP this time, we definitely have to come back and we’ll book this guesthouse again! :-) Thanks for everything!

Staying at Foreva Wild is a wonderful experience, the staff are super-friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is comfy. Location is great since it's inside the nature reserve , and as I was driving around I spotted plenty of wild animals! There are also guided safari drives nearby which were easy for me to book. The lodge is secure and clean. Breakfast is delicious. Wi-fi is okay , some spots are understandably slow with connection. Recommend using mobile data or bring your own mini-router/dongle. Overall, good value for money and you can be sure to be well taken care of at Foreva Wild !

The host was patronizing and sarcastic toward me and was trying too hard to appear to be a nice person. She also hurried me to fill up the check-in form and pressured me to indicate right there in the form if I would need meals as they are pre-ordered. I needed time to think about this well without being rushed. She was suddenly super nice when other guests arrived, even the next day when taking us to the airport where she rushed me to leave at 7:00 am since these important guests were in a hurry to catch an international flight, and yet we had agreed to leave at 7:30am. Surprisingly I had also told her that I am going to Maseru (Lesotho) the previous day, and I reminded her in the car that I am also taking an international flight to Maseru. She looked at me annoyingly and said ”but it's not the same, they are going to Madagascar”. I tried reasoning that yes, we will be using the same terminal and I am taking an international flight too, and these other guests actually joined me in agreement. I felt small, and disrespected, as well as my country. and lukewarm toward me with an obvious bias, and yet she treated other guests super warmly.

Best fresh fruit at breakfast I have had in a long time! I was very well looked after by Sam, Janine, Patricia and Sally - they made me most comfortable. My room was spacious, well appointed and kept in immaculate condition by Patricia and Sally. I would strongly recommend Houghton Place to any visitor.

We had a great time at the Aart Lodge for our end of the year gathering and entertainment. Our compliments goes to all the personnel at the Lodge from the Receptionist, Cooks (Chefs), Cleaners and Gardeners. You all have great personalities and charecter to work with people. You made our stay enjoyable. For future, I recommend that you allow people to enjoy cricket moments at mid-night on the 31st December because I am sure civil people will enjoy doing so in a responsible manner. The check in process was very simple with super friendly staff. One guy stood out for me his name is ”Essential” he went out of his way to ensure that our stay was comfortable. The rooms were fairly clean and had a nice mini bar fridge. The downside was that they didn't have microwave ovens in the rooms, Essential sorted us out through the restaurant. The wifi login tends to be troublesome, I'd prefer they improve on that or find a simpler way to secure it and still allow flawless connecting.
