But if you want a comfortable, clean, nice room in a quirky neighborhood with friendly and helpful staff, at a good price, then I recommend Ode. the owner and her staff were very helpful and made sure I had whatever I needed. The room was very nice and had character, spacious, with a nice bathroom."

Very Good
GGuest UserThe location is great, right outside there's a bus stop, and the subway isn't too far either. The only thing is there are so many key cards needed to get through all the doors – I even had to take my room card with me to the shower and toilet! Some of the front desk staff were super friendly though; one even helped me carry my suitcase upstairs (this hostel doesn't have an elevator, and there's no laundry room here, but you can pay to do laundry at a place across the street). Overall, I think it's pretty good! There were some homeless people outside, but they seemed harmless.
GGuest UserOverall, this was a nice little place to stay. You can tell it's an older facility, but seems to be fairly well maintained. Pretty clean overall, though the floors were a bit sticky. The setup of our rooms was nice as well. I'd probably stay again if I were ever in the area.
SSandra MacauOverall a great experience and very well located hotel. Many people from Ottawa don’t even know it exists but it is located right between Parliament Hill, Byward Market, the Rideau Canal and the University of Ottawa, all within reasonable walking distance. The room was nearly organised and clean, they provide fresh bed sheets, a towel, and a locker for each person in the room for the dorms. The bathrooms have body wash.
The services are great too as they hold your luggage and offer different activities to do. A big highlight was the free jail tour in the mornings where they provide insights on what the building was like during its run. My friends from Ottawa came with me and found it interesting too as a local. If you do not have time for that, each floor has informative banners that explain similar historical background. Furthermore, they had laminated sheets in the lobby with recommendations for places to go beyond the regular tourist staples and great places to eat. I went with one of their restaurant recommendations and it was delicious!
Note that I do not think it is accessible since it is a building that has to be preserved in its original state, there is no elevator, but each floor is only around half a flight of stairs. Sound also travels a lot in the hostel because of the jail’s design, but they provide ear plugs at the front desk.
The breakfast was also great :)
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is in a prime location with convenient transportation. Restaurants and shopping are all nearby. The room is quiet, well-equipped, and the internet is fast, making it very easy to work. The front desk is efficient in checking in and out, saving a lot of time. It's very suitable for business trips.
AAlexa NoronaMy niece and I stayed here for a night on our way to Stratford. The staff were lovely - everyone was so kind and helpful. We stayed in the Georgina Fergusson room, which was small, but enough space for the two of us. The bathroom was a good size- much larger than I expected, with a jetted tub. The breakfast was delicious.
GGuest UserArrived late at night, check-in was quick and easy, the room was clean, and got everything we needed. Kids love the swimming pool. Breakfast was good, staffs are very nice and helpful. A/C was loud, but our kids were able to sleep through it, so it was not a big issue. Overall, a friendly, simple accommodation , we were happy with our stay.
MMichelle McVeighThe stay was ok. However getting from the parking lot to the front door was kind of long and it was in an alley way so walking by yourself didn't feel too comfortable. Disappointed the pool was permanently closed. My room was clean but run down. It really needs to be redone. Breakfast was decent but not great. The one nice thing the hotel downtown was extend my checkout until 12pm.
GGuest UserThe location is terrific and very convenient. The iconic landmarks are all within about half an hour's walk.
Simple breakfast is provided daily. There are separate sections for working or socialising which are good.
Only setback is that it can be quite disruptive if you are a light sleeper. Noises are inevitable given all pods are in the same space.
びびーこーべI stayed in an 8-person dormitory room.
Each bed has an electrical outlet.
The lockers are small, and guests need to bring their own padlocks.
The room is accessed via a code.
Towels are not provided for rent.
There are no bed curtains.
Wi-Fi is not strong but it connects.
The staff are kind but provide minimal service.
Toilets and showers are in the common area and are separate.
The kitchen and common area are a bit small.
Overall, it was clean, so I had no particular inconvenience during my one-night stay.
Considering the cost of living in Toronto, it's understandable, but I thought it could be a little cheaper. It's also a bit far from the city center.
QQasim RThe Woodview Inn in Gananoque is a beautiful and charming bed and breakfast. The property has so much character and history, which gives it a very cosy and welcoming atmosphere.
The location is excellent. Gananoque itself is a wonderful town, and the inn is within easy walking distance of many of the local attractions, restaurants, and places to explore.
What really stood out to us was the hospitality of the owners, Steve and John. They are very involved in running the inn and clearly take great pride in the experience they provide for their guests. Their personal attention, warmth, and care make the stay feel especially welcoming.
Overall, The Woodview Inn is a lovely place to stay if you are visiting Gananoque. It combines history, charm, a great location, and wonderful hospitality from Steve and John.
