This hostel made for a very comfortable and well located base to explore Hohhot. It is very straightforward to find, located in a large high rise apartment building, with key to the door provided. The owner/manager is very responsive and helpful. The bunk space is great, with everything I needed, and also comes with a fan.
I met some very decent people in this hostel which is also an important part of travelling.
Highly recommend this place. Just be mindful that Chinese toilets and shower rooms are rather different from European/Western standards. Flipflops provided.
Cheers.

Excellent location. Take the airport bus to Chunxi Road and then take the Metro from Chunxi Rd Station to just one stop away Xinnamen Station. Make sure you come out at the right exit. You can see the hostel as you come out.
The room is spacious! There is a roof garden and a nice lounge area.

It is located in Hailiang Mingmen, with various large shopping malls downstairs, where you can eat, drink, and have fun. It only takes about ten minutes to ride an electric bike to reach the Dazhao Wuliang Temple. The hardware is pretty good, except that the area for washing and going to the toilet is separated by a room with a door. Inside is a squat toilet for showering and going to the toilet (I personally prefer squatting, after all, there are so many people), and outside are two washbasins.
The boys are in two rooms behind the white curtain, and the girls are behind the pink curtain.
Maybe my luck has almost run out. Although the environment is okay, I was not happy living there. First, there was a boy in the room smoking in the public area. Fortunately, after I reminded him, he went out to smoke (but there were still people smoking later. It was even more exaggerated the next morning. They didn't smoke in the public area, but directly behind the curtain. The whole public area was smelly, and even the girls' room could smell it with the door closed. I was too lazy to follow their instructions when I was about to leave). There was a peculiar smell, and the boss said it was a human problem. He moved me to a bed in another room. As soon as I opened the door, I was overwhelmed by the strong smell of takeout. A pile of takeout was left on the table and not thrown away after eating, and the window was not opened to disperse the smell, even though there was a big trash can at the entrance. I said goodbye to them, opened the window to get rid of the smell, and reluctantly fell asleep. To be honest, the static electricity from the bedding was really strong. Fortunately, I was wearing pure cotton, but when I touched the exposed skin, sparks and lightning still occurred.
See the last picture for my experience the next morning…I’m really speechless. I had originally wanted to get up early and pack up so I could go to the half marathon finish line to join in the fun, but the public area was filled with smoke, so I had to drag my suitcase back to the room. Other people were resting in the room, so I didn’t want to make any noise, so I had to pack up slowly. By the time I finished packing, it was too late to go over.
I stayed in two youth hostels during this trip, and none of them was like here where everyone closed their doors and didn't communicate with each other. Before, even if there were boys, everyone could chat in the public area and even eat and play together. Later, I realized that maybe no one wanted to stay in the public area because it was always filled with smoke, and even if there were people there, they would just watch the washing machine wash clothes alone.
I've said so much, it's not that this youth hostel is bad, it's just that I'm unlucky, I didn't meet a good companion here~

The hostel itself is very cute and cozy, though you will notice that it's already been through some years. The rooms themselves were nice and clean. The bathrooms only have squatting toilets, which in itself is not a problem; however I believe there were some guests around that didn't know how to properly use them and the bathrooms weren't cleaned daily so unfortunaly I cannot give more points on cleanliness.
I don't know how much English is spoken and I'm not sure how many tips staff can give about the surrounding sights. We asked if it was possible to get to the Xilamuren grasslands by public bus and the receptionist told us it wasn't. It is though, you can take a long distance bus to Zhaohe from the long distance bus station. We didn't ask for any more directions afterwards...

A very good youth hostel. It is located in a community and is as comfortable as home. The public space is very large. There is a living room, a dining table, a kitchen, a sofa, a TV, a refrigerator and a washing machine. The facilities are very complete. Everyone is very nice (forgot I took some pictures of the place and will post some travel pictures)

The location of the Youth Hostel is very good, opposite the wide alley, the proprietress sister is very gentle, the room is very clean, the bathroom is small but everything is complete, very clean and tidy, no smell, the atmosphere of the Youth Hostel is particularly good, everyone is a werewolf to kill, play mahjong, In the Mid-Autumn Festival, the boss also organized a hot pot. Everyone from Tiannanhaibei was really happy to get together. The boss would also organize a chartered car to go to the desert and go to the grassland. I, a person who never commented on others, wanted to give a good review for this youth travel. I will brush this youth travel two and three times. Friends, we have a chance to see you!

At 12 o'clock, the proprietress had not slept yet, and arranged a upper bunk. Because it was late, it was not easy to disturb others. After washing up, I climbed up and found that there was no pillow and I didn't ask for it anymore. I only saw that the quilt was so dirty in the morning, I even used it as a pillow for one night! The baby put on the small shelf above is all gray, and the bedside is also gray! Probably never cleaned! Many long-term tenants. One room and one room are connected. Unlike the youth hostels I have lived elsewhere before. There is no youth hostel atmosphere, like a temporary rental apartment.

Very Good
AAndrew PulestonA welcome sight in an unfamiliar place. Not too hard to find. One of only a handful of accomodations in this large, town ”under development” Though we had some communications challenges that was solved by thw first front desk reception lady using the weixin translation app. She kindly directed me to the best restaurant in town for lunch - by taxi, as there are few fanguan nearby. Convenient 6 minute walk to the train station through the underpass.
A taxi can be arranged to go the single major local tourism site - Kehan (khan) Shan. It is only partly in operation, but the surroundings are inspiring
Accessories in room were completely adequate and clean. I expected to be on second floor, but not. Some noise and cigarette smoke carried through the corridor, but this happens.
There may be larger binguans in Holingol, this was fine for me. Excellent value for the price.
WWangxin(diweizhenkong)There is free airport transfer service. If you don't want to be picky when you're out, just get as much sleep as possible. The boss's service is good. There was no towel in the room and someone was sent to deliver it in 5 minutes. There is a restaurant at the door.

MM740109****The accommodation is small! Definitely not 20 square meters! I booked this room based on the size and price. I was very unhappy at first. The bathroom is also small, and you have to remove the wastebasket when showering. There are some dead spots in the bathroom that I didn't take photos of, mainly in the corner under the shower. It's very close to Genghis Khan Square, which is very convenient.

WWujicaidaoAlthough the hotel is small, for me, a person who works outside every day, I feel at home. When I enter the door, I feel like a relative's home. It is very clean. The boss is very enthusiastic. He also offers cigarettes and water with a smile on his face. It is really an illusion. When I arrived at my relative's house, the guest room was also very clean. It was different from other business hotels. The quilts in the rooms were different colors. When I left, I tidied up the quilts and hygiene first. It really felt like my own home. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
HHongliOur 2025 summer Liaojimeng self-driving tour of Inner Mongolia Hailar Station choose to stay at Hulun Bernalan Hotel.
The hotel is strategically located, convenient transportation, and convenient parking for self-driving tours;
The hotel's service is warm, and the problems that arise after our stay are solved patiently and promptly; the hotel room is also spacious, bright and comfortable; but the bathroom is really unsatisfactory. One problem is that the basin is shallow and small, but the water pipe is long and high, not matching, and it is used to splash water everywhere; Another problem is that the bath is not separated from wet and dry, and the water after the bath is not easy to drain; the experience is not very good; I really hope to improve. The hotel does not have breakfast, but the surrounding breakfast is very convenient and delicious.
In general, Hulun Bernaland Hotel can still choose!
