1. Great location, within walking distance to most city attractions, close to bus stops, the ferry terminal, and a supermarket.
2. Rooms are clean and quiet, each with its own capsule bed and locker, offering security and privacy.
3. Plenty of clean and well-maintained bathrooms and toilets.
4. Free luggage storage available.
5. The kitchen is small, messy, and the facilities aren't great.
6. Only two hair dryers for all the hostel guests, which is inconvenient.
The hostel I booked last-minute was right in the city center, making it very convenient to get around. There were also many supermarkets and restaurants nearby. The only problem was that the air conditioning in the room was too cold (the central air conditioning couldn't be adjusted).
The place was clean and well-maintained. You can cook here, so next time I stay, I'd love to buy ingredients from a nearby supermarket and enjoy my stay even more. You can also play table tennis 🏓 and billiards.
This is the best hostel we’ve stayed in! Beds were super comfy, rooms and facilities were clean and well managed, communal bathrooms and kitchens were well equipped and enough for the amount of people so you never had to wait for a shower or for a space to cook!
We enjoyed it so much we booked another Haka House for later in the trip.
Photo of our room which was a private twin (with shared bathroom).
With a stay at Onehunga Suites in Auckland (Onehunga), you'll be a 4-minute drive from Go Media Stadium and 9 minutes from Mount Eden. This apartment is 5 mi (8.1 km) from Eden Park and 6.8 mi (10.9 km) from Spark Arena.
Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Make yourself at home in one of the 15 guestrooms, featuring kitchens with stovetops and microwaves. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected.
The staff is very attentive and responsive to guests. The rooms are well-equipped, have their own bathrooms, and offer a good level of comfort. The hostel also benefits from a convenient location.
However, the kitchen area could be improved. There are very few dish towels available, and the kitchen equipment is quite limited. I had to ask for dish soap and a sponge to clean my clothes. Furthermore, the kitchen wasn't always very clean.
PROS: In the city center and close to bus stations. The staff is super nice and helpful. The price is really nice. They offer free luggage storage before check-in/after check out which was super helpful.
CONS: Some curtains would be nice for some privacy. The room was not that clean and it was quite smelly. Some shelves would be nice in the shower. I don't think there are enough shoer and toilet for that many people.
Lots of nice people who stay in Auckland for a long time are there. Was very well received even though I was only there one night.
All in all a good hostel
third time at Hobson always in the female dorm at the second floor and it didnt disappoint as usual. Fair to say it was way more crowded than my last times so the kitchen wasn't the cleanest but apart from that good stay and good sleep
Very Good

GGuest UserService was excellent! The free shuttle to and from the airport is so convenient, and it's very helpful for us travellers. The accommodation itself was okay, quite old but necessities are there. Would definitely stay again!
DDeevanyah FrostWe just had an unexpectedly delightful experience at the Waiheke Island Motel, so much so that we added another night because we simply couldn't get enough of the place! Our stay began with a minor hitch: arriving late in the evening to find our pre-booked studio room was locked. However, the way the night manager and the team handled this was truly remarkable. They quickly resolved the issue by giving us a significant, stress-free upgrade to a spacious whole house with four bedrooms instead of our original studio. This immediate, generous response demonstrated exceptional hospitality and turned a potential frustration into the highlight of our trip. The motel's location is ideal; it offers a wonderfully quiet and peaceful atmosphere, yet it's in very close proximity to both the shops and the beach. We appreciated the on-site pool and the spa options, and the minute's walk down to the community Saturday market was a fantastic bonus. Our only piece of constructive feedback relates to the spa itself—unfortunately, the cleanliness was not up to standard, which was a slight disappointment. Despite the minor issue with the spa, the exceptional service, comfortable accommodation, and prime location mean we had a fantastic trip. Crucially, the price was quite reasonably priced compared to other places on Waiheke, offering excellent value for money. We will definitely return to Waiheke Island Motel!
GGumayusi7The room was clean and tidy, with all facilities in good working order. The bedding was comfortable, ensuring a sound sleep. The location is excellent, making travel convenient, and there are plenty of dining and drinking options nearby. The front desk service was warm and attentive, and check-in/check-out was efficient. It offers great value for money and a wonderful experience. I'll definitely prioritize this hotel next time!

GGuest UserGood Points:** It was my first time staying in New Zealand, and the accommodation was cheaper than the food prices at nearby restaurants, which was a plus. The kitchen was spacious and well-equipped with plenty of utensils. **Bad Points:** I stayed for two nights, but for some reason, the card key didn’t work on the second night, causing a lot of trouble. I couldn’t even get back to my bed from the bathroom unless someone opened the door for me. It was very inconvenient. Also, there were noisy people in the lobby until midnight. The air conditioning felt too cold, and I didn’t find the location particularly great (though this might be because I’m not familiar with the city’s layout).
FFuffiI recently stayed at the Tudor Court Motor Lodge in Epsom for a few days, and it was a fantastic choice for my visit to Auckland. The location is arguably its best feature—situated on Great South Road, it’s incredibly convenient for accessing Newmarket and the CBD. The Bus 70 stop is just a short walk away, making public transport a breeze.
The room was surprisingly spacious, clean, and well-maintained, providing a very comfortable environment to relax. I particularly appreciated the free on-site parking, which is a huge bonus in such a busy area. Despite being on a main road, the room was quiet enough for a good night's sleep.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, ensuring a smooth check-in process. Whether you are in town for business or visiting nearby schools, this motel offers excellent value for money. I would definitely stay here again!
Ssi-ilI really like that the airport shuttle service is free. Highly recommended for those who are uncertain about flight times.
The condition of the accommodation is also clean. There is also a microwave.
GGuest UserI guess the hotel staff upgraded my room. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a separate kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and stove, although the non-stick pans were old and I didn't dare use them. There's a Pak'nsave supermarket 1.3 km away. The room had a great location, with a small balcony facing a small patch of green grass in the yard. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel, making it very convenient to go to the airport or the center. We used the airport shuttle service; they only called when we arrived at the designated point, and they picked us up in about 10 minutes. A wonderful night! The next day, we easily took the bus to the Newmarket Center. Thank you!
BBella BooHooSuch a cozy spot for an overnight stay. Upstairs room i got with no balcony access like the rooms on the ground floor but still has the windows to look out on to the park. So check if you are getting the ground floor for patio access or upstairs room window to park views. Quite a noisy street on the main drag in a built up area but still close to the Airport and shopping centre. Room was very well equipped with utensils and microwave. Bed was clean & comfy just needed a couple more pillows to perch up especially for 2 adults to watch TV. Bonus the stand up cooling fan. Bathroom with a good size shower & basic ammenities and a side cupboard to hang clothing. Overall a comfortable stay.
GGuest UserThe hotel was great! The front desk even upgraded us to a family room. It's located right off the main road, just a few minutes' drive from New Market and New World, which is super convenient. Plus, free parking is a huge bonus in Auckland. Having an induction cooktop, microwave, and electric kettle was also incredibly helpful.
