Selina la Fortuna

I was here for coworking for about 3 weeks so got to know the place pretty well. I do not think CoLive is worth the value, was told I get discounts on food and drink and that was never honored. And got just as good WiFi in my room and shared spaces so no need to pay extra. The real gem of my stay was Charles, his yoga classes were more advanced depending on his am or pm class but amazing and accommodating to all skill levels. Best Selina yoga classes I had my whole trip. The staff was friendly even with their limited English, knew me by name. My standard room smelled of mildew and the kitchen cook wears need replacing and please get new knifes. Bummed that the social spaces closed at 10pm. Left us with no where to go because night life isn’t abundant in La Fortuna. Loved the layout of this Selina. One main social space right by the pool where everyone would gather there. Locals even came to enjoy the pool on hot days and never felt crowed, fun social events even if they were not always busy I’m glad they were available to solo travelers like me! The music they booked and played was surprisingly really good. Definitely worth a stay at this location
Fairfield by Marriott San Jose Airport Alajuela
4.5/5108 Reviews
If you’re arriving late at San Jose Airport and have an early flight in the morning, I would without a doubt stay here again. The complementary shuttle service that runs every 30min is so convenient and the location is excellent with a Walmart right across the street for your last minute necessities. The staff is super friendly, the bed is comfy and the rooms are clean. The shower pressure is quite low though but apart from that there’s nothing I can think of. Taking into account the time of the year the room cost more than I wanted to spend, but given the overall convenience and experience all in all it was worth it and I’m looking forward to staying here again when I fly out from San José.
Villa San Ignacio

I read summer great reviews of this place and it did not disappoint. There are small trails on the property. Stunt get excited, they are small but you are not next to another building! The pool is nice but not heated. If you are from the NE US, you are used to it. Or was refreshing especially after being in the sun for a bit. The hotel is nicely kept but more of a local style which I prefer more than the standard hotel room. The room is beautiful and the bed is comfy. You can't go wrong here. Many people I met do the same thing, spend the last night in Costa Rica before flying out. Very secure, not much near, but the best ends to your pura vida vacation.
Baldi Hot Springs Hotel & Spa
4.2/5105 Reviews
Amazing amazing amazing! I want to go back already! Hot springs were amazing, I love the option of having at least one of the hot springs open 24/7, they change it each night for cleaning purposes, they’re very strict on the towels, each one is literally accounted for otherwise there is a fee per towel, no big deal as long as you keep track, didn’t really need to carry a towel around anyway, the only downside I’d have to say was the Italian restaurant was much better then the buffet option, also the slides are pretty intense, I actually hurt my foot on one of them, but it didn’t stop the fun. Wish I were back there!
Hotel Arenal Kioro Suites & Spa

Wow....I can't say enough good things about this location. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left this was 5 star all the way....we wish we had stayed longer and will definitely come back. The drinks at the bar were phenomenal and the Guaro Sour drink itself is enough to make you want to stay. The view from the room is something out of a dream. I do know we were lucky and no rain and could see the volcano all day all 3 days we were there. The rooms were immaculate and the hot tub is a nice touch. Might not be the best place for a family vacation as there are no activities for kids but for couples you couldn't find a more romantic place. Nonetheless our 14 year boy enjoyed his time there and spent more time admiring the views and wildlife than playing on his phone....even without being forced. Speaking of wildife we saw dozens of bird species, coatis, reptiles & the highlight....a friendly armadillo paid us a visit! I could go on and on but you get the picture.....lastly a special shout out to Jorge at the front desk....he knew and did all to make our trip even better. Thank you Jorge and the rest of the staff for making the first part of our trip unforgettable!

The Royal Corin Thermal Water Spa & Resort
4.7/5103 Reviews
The Royal Corin is truly a 5 star Hotel . The all around Service is outstanding ! From the moment we walked out of our drivers vehicle we we treated as if we were the only guests staying on the property. All the staff went above and beyond taking care of all our needs the detail service is exquisite and that includes Bell Boy, Front Counter Staff, Restaurant Wait Staff, Pool Bartenders, they always addressed us by our names they always remained Professional and friendly while never compromising their detailed service . I must mention the Daily Breakfast spread was the best I’ve ever had . The selection of the fresh squeezed juices were delicious. We will definitely be back to be pampered in this amazing property and the next place we vacation will have very big shoes to fill. 💜💜💜
Heliconias nature Inn and Hot Springs
4.4/556 Reviews
My wife and I just finished a four day stay at the Heliconias Nature Lodge, and in summary, it’s been near the top of our list of any place to stay in the world! Lots of places look good online, but rarely do you find one that exceeds everything you’ve seen or read about…this is one of those rare finds. The deluxe bungalow we stayed in was absolutely beautiful, and very private, tucked into the woods in the back corner of the property. Incredibly clean and comfortable, with a back deck that had two hammocks and looked right into the forest behind it. The two restaurants, one for breakfast and one for lunch and dinner, were beautiful venues, and the service and food were terrific. It was great being greeted each morning by Alejandro, who approached you like you had been friends for years. Tavo was there to greet us when we checked in and took great care of any needs we had throughout our stay, and stayed in touch with us when we had questions. The location was perfect, about 15 minutes outside La Fortuna, and a little further to the Arenal volcano, but what we enjoyed was how it was away from the more heavily populated tourist areas around Arenal. Finally, this review wouldn’t be complete without a comment about the Lodge itself. It sits in the middle of one of the more beautiful nature sites you’ll ever see. The owners have done an incredible job of creating a masterpiece of color and beauty all around you, and the walking trails are amazing. We had spent six days at the Costa Rican beaches prior to arriving at Heliconias, and our only regret was that we hadn’t planned a longer visit to the Lodge. We can’t say enough good things about our experience here and can highly recommend the Lodge to everyone!
Hotel Linda Vista
4.3/5102 Reviews
I have to say that the price of the ordinary room is super high. He is located on the edge of the volcano and the volcanic lake. The staff at the front desk are very warm and patient. The view of the infinity pool is also invincible nearby. 11. When we lived on the 16th, I loved his balcony and sat on the bench to enjoy a few days of isolation, but I suggested that friends with a relatively high living environment choose the hotel's exquisite suites. The bathroom in the ordinary room is a bit cramped and there is no refrigerator and hair dryer. Breakfast is fixed type 1, there are not many choices, fruit has a small piece of pineapple, a small piece of watermelon and papaya is very small, we asked for one more fruit on the first day but charged 2 knives the next day. Because the restaurant under the mountain is about one kilometer away, we still used dinner in the restaurant and the taste was good.
Hampton by Hilton San Jose Airport
3.6/5121 Reviews
We absolutely appreciated this hotel on our way in and our way out of the country. Clean, crisp, cool, and comfortable. The shuttle to the airport takes just a couple of minutes and is incredibly easy to use. The breakfast we plentiful and the coffee hot and fresh. There are a few places around to eat, but mostly we were here to sleep and shower in comfort and cleanliness.
