Scandic Jyväskylä City

Hotel was pretty good. Rooms are clean and nice but would need small update i guess. But nothing huge just small signs of wear here and there. We were still very happy with the room. The service at the lobby was very kind and this place had awesome breakfast. 5/5. We checked the gym and it had all the basic things you can imagine to do a good workout. Parking lot was good also.
Scandic Laajavuori

We stayed in Scandic Laajavuori from Sunday to Monday. It would be important to let the guests to know that the restaurant is closed on Sundays. The lobby cafe serves snacks but has no vegetarian options (only hot dogs, meat pies and salads with chicken or shrimp). We did not realize this and ended up in a situation at 6 PM where the only option to have proper food is to drive to the city centre which is several kilometres away. The breakfast on Monday morning was also serving old bread and for instance cucumber from the previous day. So I really can not recommend staying here on Sunday! Other than the food issues, the premises are great, particularly with kids, there are a lot of activities for them both indoors and outdoors. The pool is nice and warm and serves well for its purposes.
GreenStar Hotel Jyväskylä

Location is not far from main stations. I think we had to lift our baby carriage on the steps but there weren't so many of them. After check-in there was free coffee and bisquits in the lobby! We took them into our room which was clean, with new furnitures. Their rooms are always for three, so there's no need for a pack'n'play, because you can put your baby into third bed. There was a little kitchenette so you can buy from a supermarket something little and eat in your room. That's why we didn't buy breakfast so we can't say anything about it. This hotel (chain) is really green, so they have plenty of different carbage cans where you can sort your rubbishes. We can recommend this hotel for everybody but especially for those, who are interested about sustainable things.
Omena Hotel Jyväskylä

Booked Omena Hotel for 5 nights as a budget stay for a business trip. It is in a convenient location very close to the centre of town and not far from the train station. The code to enter was emailed to me the day before arrival. This is the code to get through the gate, into the building and into the room. The communal spaces were clean and easy to navigate. The room itself was very basic but suited me as I was not using the room other than to sleep! The room was comfortable enough and everything worked. The blinds did a wonderful job of blocking out the 24 hour daylight! There was a microwave which was handy although I only used it once. Overall, great budget accommodation for Jyvyskyla for single travellers. With more than one person in the room it could be small, but manageable if you are just using the room as a base to explore beautiful Jyvyskyla.
Solo Sokos Hotel Paviljonki

Stayed at this hotel for a special event, had a room upgrade and a bottle of Prosecco and chocolate and a welcome card waiting for us upon arrival. Room was very clean and comfy, great bed, fluffy towels, all nice and clean. And great views from the 8th floor too. Lots of choice at breakfast. Staff in this hotel are particularly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help. Great location too.
Hotel Verso
4.5/568 Reviews
I spent many days at Hotel Verso. My room was perfectly clean and breakfast was fantastic, essentially made just with local produce (but why there was no fresh fruit?). I found disappointing how dark my room was, indeed all its windows overlooked a mall gallery. In a place like Finland famous for its white summer nights, it's unacceptable to be forced to keep the lights on all day. Then, at reception everybody was very kind but completely uninformed about everything. For example I asked some basic questions about local bus timetables and I was provided with wrong info. One of the ladies at the reception told me that there were no rides after 4 pm. This sounded so odd to me that I preferred to doublecheck in a R kiosk (a sort of newsstand that sell also public transportation tickets) and there I got confirmation that there were bus rides practically every hour, every day. Then, what I found unacceptable is that the phone in my room didn't work, and so I couldn't call the reception. A lady of room service told me that the phone was blocked and to unblock it a puk code was needed (on phone display I could read a strange message such as”insert PUK code”or similar). She explained that replacing the device wasn't the solution, the problem would have lasted. In her opinion to get a working phone I needed to change room... Unbelievable. I honestly expected much more based on the reviews I had read on this hotel. There are some aspects I really liked of this place but many others that need to be improved.

Original Sokos Hotel Alexandra

Hotel is located next to a pedestrian street, which makes it great for short walks and cocktails on terraces. There is a bar and a restaurant right next to reception, so not a long walk needed. Staff was friendly and professional. Everybody greeted. All went smooth. We had a Superior King room. View to lobby. Looked really nice, clean and modern. Spacious. Comfy bed. Good pillows. Air conditioner. Minibar. Coffee/tea/cocoa set. TV with chromecast. Bathroom was large and included everything you need. Products by Lumene. Breakfast was fine, nothing special. Coffee was bad, tasted like filtered coffee with double water. I would do some improvements, add some fish and some more egg options? We were there on easter and special points to staff wearing different easter themed items. They even designed boiled eggs :) Overall experience 5/5 and highly recommended.
