My husband planned a two night get away to celebrate our wedding anniversary. He booked the jacuzzi king suite, scheduled side by side massages in the spa, and we called ahead to make sure the pool, hot tub, sauna and restaurant were all open. The website said “by request only” for the restaurant, so I called again the day before arrival to see if we needed to pre-order, to ensure that once settled in, we wouldn’t need to drive anywhere to find food. I was told no worries, the restaurant was open and we could order whatever we wished. Upon arrival, we found out that the pool, hot tub and sauna had been closed “just three hours earlier” (closed for weeks according to all the locals we spoke with). When I asked what time would he suggest we come for dinner, he said there was no restaurant, and recommended The Eatery across the highway. We were told that the side by side massages had been rescheduled to 11 am and 1 pm for the next day, as there was only one person who works in the “spa”. So we cancelled the 1 pm one and he went and had his. We had to drive into town to eat, had no means of even preparing food in the hotel room, no use of any advertised amenities, and even got to watch and listen to the owner screaming and arguing with people outside the buildings (not sure if they were staff or other guests). Run down, neglected maintenance, no amenities, severely overpriced and he lied to us about all the features, for which we drove four hours to have a romantic weekend. This is, at best, a 1 star run down cheap motel. We made the most of our get away, and did enjoy the Eatery, as well as the Red Rock Grill, in town - but this is a pathetic excuse for a spa resort. We don’t recommend anyone consider it for any reason.

This is not a resort & spa. Nothing he advertises on site is available. There is a pool & hot tub & that’s it. We rented a 3 bedroom cabin 2 months in advance. Phoned the morning we were to arrive. We were told everything was good 👍 We arrived at 4:30 pm after a 5 hour drive to be told he had no cabin for us. He blamed it on ******* over booking. We discovered the next day that he rents most of the cabins out by the month to locals during the winter & only leaves a couple for guests. It’s whoever gets there first will get one. We talked with several other families there that he did the same thing to. We ended up being put in 2 motel type rooms with 2 queen beds, fridge & microwave for the same price as the 3 bedroom cabin. We had brought enough food to cook all our meals for 3 days but no stove, cutlery, dishes or table & chairs.. It was such a disappointment & then to find out that he did this to so many other families knowing there was no cabin even available. The only positives were that the beds were comfortable & rooms clean. Will never recommend or go back.

The room was very nice in a very mountain natural environment. I would have liked the pool and hot tub open later as a traveller only spending one night.

Nice place with great facilities. Little short on staff at this time of year. Worth the money. We saw a deer and a bear, nice.

The first room we were assigned to was not acceptable, dated and musty. We got a different room and it was much much better. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a nice view. The photos are definitely dated and the overall condition of the whole facility seems to have seen better days. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Reasonable price and would stay again. There is a nice grocery store very close at the 108 mile mall.

In total disrepair, no toilet paper, generally dirty, nowhere to plug in a/c , porch rotting and felt unsafe. Took forever to get hot water, fawcett control on shower ready to fall off, bathroom sink handles backwards. The staff were fine. That’s it. Under new management 2 weeks before our arrival. Highly suggest you go across street. Charged for ****zu, non shedding dog, No doubt our dog cleaner than room. Disgusting overall.

This hotel is run down and filthy. The owner told us that the pool and hot tub were open until 10 pm, and then 15 minutes later(around 7 pm) we went down and the whole lobby was closed. Could not use facilities. He has obviously given up. We felt unsafe with discarded fridges, rotten looking couches and chairs, dozens of booze bottles, random pieces of metal strewn all around the shared patio outside of our room. Garbage and loose debris all over staircase. Large window in room would not lock. Room was filthy. No cups, glasses, etc in room, no access to ice machine. Bankruptcy must be the next step for this formerly beautiful resort. Very sad for them and NOT A PLACE TO STAY FOR ANYONE! Horrible!

Off the highway and quiet. Bedding was comfortable, warm and immaculate. Bathrooms well cared for. Galley style kitchen was lacking sufficient quantities for our group of 10, so we had to borrow from our second cabin. Exteriors could use some TLC. Staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Our group has reunion every September, and we had been to Spruce Hill when it was Hills Ranch in 1995. Glad we went again. This is not a luxurious experience, more like being at 'the family cabin in the forest', but worked out to about $100 per person for a weekend, and every couple or single had their own bedroom. One bathroom per cabin, so 5 sharing. Wanda the dog was a great 'mascot'. Fatty-Cat was on loan if anyone suspected little furry invaders.....
