We booked this hotel as we were attending a wedding near by. I explained that my husband has a bad back and we were offered a room in the cottage at the rear of the building. They did say there were stairs but not as many as in the main hotel. We checked in and were shown to the room which was out a fire exit, across an uneven courtyard and up a very steep flight of stairs. The room was dreadful. An old couch with one foot, 2 windows had blinds, one of which was broken, and one did not, the hanging rail was in the eves and the rail was so low you could not hang anything. Didn’t matter as there were no hangers and an old chair took up about 80% of the space. Bare plaster patch on the walls and the odd cobweb or two. We went down to the bar and the lady was very helpful and showed us 2 alternative rooms. We took one at the rear of the hotel and it was slightly better. Old furniture which had seen better days and the bed was very uncomfortable. The mattress was so soft and had a board underneath. The shower had a rusty soap stand and the water trickled out. We were told breakfast would be delivered and we are still waiting! Turns out a continental breakfast is served in the bar. We did not eat so cannot comment on the food but given that the fish and chip shop is part of the premises, you certainly got that aroma throughout the building. It such a shame that no investment is being made to this hotel as it’s in a great location and the bar has the promise to be something interesting. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful but I feel for them as they are trying their best in a very challenging building.

Location is ideal and the rooms we got in the 'cottage' was spacious. Lady checking us in was also super helpful and kind. The rooms were super clean, but the decoration was a bit lacking, mirrors were in the floor rather than hung up, tv was on a rickety table etc.. the shower was great though we could have done with instructions as 'cold' on the dial was what made water hot!!! It was also a bit noisy outside at around 1/2am on the Friday probably from people leaving the restaurant/pub below. Comfy beds and ideal place to stay though! Breakfast was VERY basic, boxed cereal, yoghurt, toast and apples/oranges/bananas, but better than nothing!

The Aberfoyle Inn is absolutely delightful. Great staff, lovely site. However, it was listed as a hotel in Stirling. It is not. Over 20 miles away. Do not be fooled by the listing on the internet.

My stay in Aberfoyle didn't quite go as planned: I ended up having a medical emergency, and needed to go to the hospital! The people working at the inn were very kind, helping me find someone who could take me to the hospital, and helping return my belongings to me the next day. I'll be back, hopefully to actually stay at the inn next time.

This property consists of rooms over a restaurant/fish and chip shop. The rooms are fine but there were no staff on the premises overnight from about 10pm to about 11.00am. No telephone number was given to contact staff. There was no wifi in the room. No breakfast even though at the time of booking I had been told that it was. We had to change room to a much smaller one because there was no blind at one of the windows. The description of this being a hotel implies a certain minimum standard of services which this accommodation did not meet.
