Excellent value for money

Typical looking hotel-restaurant with some strong points and other aspects that can definitely be improved. Among the advantages are the affordable prices considering the average Austrian cost, the large and quiet rooms, the beautiful mountain landscape, the fine wooden furnishings of the restaurant. The service and attention to detail show some problems. The bathroom in the room has no soap in the shower, there is only a dispenser outside the box which makes use complicated (and which must also be used as hand soap). We then asked for a separate bottle, but it was not available. The cleanliness was decent, but not impeccable (one sheet was slightly stained) The restaurant food is acceptable (we tried the asparagus cream and the schnitzel), but here too there were some less than ideal situations: menu only in German, total absence of desserts, soup bread (which was actually a sort of focaccia whose oil didn't seem exceptional) being paid for separately, and a certain inconsistency between the answers received from the waiters and the reality of things. Good breakfast (also without sweets though). The staff is very young, so they probably need to gain experience to avoid these inconveniences.

It was a very warm welcome. Very hygienic and clean hotel! You feel more than welcome and there is always time for a chat. The hotel is very well located. Help is always offered where necessary. Thanks for the nice trip!

The Voglauerhof seems to be a bit old and at least the restaurant is run by Hungarians. In addition to the usual local menu, there are also Hungarian delicacies, so to speak, and they try to please EVERYONE with pizza and pasta, but this rarely works. With some reservations, I ordered a game stew soup and was served a reddish soup that showed fat eyes, and I thought it was more of a fish soup. In addition to a few indefinable pieces of meat, there were lots of mushroom leaves and pieces of vegetables. The creamy paprika taste, which is rather "unusual" for game stew in our latitudes, was "of the FINEST" and if that is the Hungarian type of game stew soup, I wish it was offered to me more often. Having been clever with a side of Hungarian dishes, I also ordered stuffed peppers and it seems to be the same sauce as in the soup.......Unfortunately, here too, the peppers were cooked with the stuffing and so the taste of the peppers is no longer there. The minced meat with rice was flavorful, but unfortunately the potatoes had been kept warm for too long and then they had that bitter taste... What was really lousy was the so-called espresso, which wasn't even a little long in consistency and was a ridiculous €2 too much. But if you want to eat HUNGARIAN in this area, you should go there. We ordered 6 pizzas and had a drink in the meantime. We were told it would take 40 minutes. After 55 minutes we paid and dared to ask how long it would take. All he said was "how should I know, I work in service and not in the kitchen" and he left. Maybe a job without customer contact would be worth considering..?! 🤦🏼‍♀️
