The traditional hotel on Beach Drive used to be called the Dutch Hotel, and many still call it that today.
Located right on the beach, all rooms have a balcony facing the sea, so you can look out at the impressive waves, listen to the surf and be refreshed by a light breeze.
The predominantly local food is freshly prepared, which is also a reason why the hotel is valued by the local population. On Sundays from 12:00 p.m., many people meet on the terrace and in the garden.
The Nungua district is on the outskirts of Accra and is as lively as such areas are in large capital cities. Friday evening is the start of the weekend, and the many hours of Friday prayers in the Gospel Church opposite can be followed with the room door open. On the large terrace, however, the sound of the sea calms the soul.
The service is great! Lots of very, very friendly and helpful people.
The direct seaside location requires a great deal of effort to maintain the entire complex. For example, all of the large glass surfaces in the bar (with a piano player, of course) are cleaned daily. Nobody can stop nature permanently, and sometimes you can see the hotel's long history. For us, that was part of the house's understated charm, African-friendly, authentic and extremely hospitable.
The entire infrastructure works great. Hot water, air conditioning, WiFi, cleanliness, etc., everything is impeccable.
We were here at the beginning of August 2023. Highly recommended!
