Oyado Sansui

Visiting Achi Village, I compared several nearby hot spring ryokans and decided to try this one for its reasonable price, offering a one-night stay with two meals. Upon entering, there's a beautiful garden, and indoors, shoes must be removed. The interior space is ample, and with not many guests, the service was very satisfying. The room size was surprisingly large, and the lobby offered complimentary all-you-can-drink beverages, including alcohol, plus an outdoor foot bath. The restaurant food quality was acceptable, and overall, I was pleased with my stay.

The onsen at this ryokan is excellent. The real mineral water leaves your skin feeling smooth after soaking, although it's hotter than at other hotels. The atmosphere is peaceful.

A pleasant surprise during this trip. It started raining when we arrived in Iida, which dampened our expectations for stargazing. However, the hotel made up for it a lot. The hotel seems to have been open for a long time, but it didn't feel worn at all. The staff's English wasn't great, but their service was excellent. I booked a room with a private onsen, but I still soaked in the large public bath and was very satisfied. The weather improved in the evening, and we saw a sky full of stars. My only regret is that I shouldn't have stayed another night. The breakfast and dinner I ordered were also very satisfying. They used local ingredients. It was a bit wasteful that all the wild vegetables from Nagano were pickled. There are buses from Nagoya and Nagano to Hirugami Onsen. I took the JR Iida Line to Iida this time. Both the Iida and Tenryukyo hotels should be able to pick up passengers there. It's best to call the hotel in advance to confirm.

Absolutely gorgeous! Absolutely fantastic! The rooms, the food, the service—everything was top-notch. There were no foreigners there, just locals, and the staff did everything they could to answer all our questions in English, which they didn't speak very well. I'd definitely come back again!

We had a wonderful time and loved everything about the ryokan. But getting there was really, really difficult. We wanted to take the bus from Nagoya, but all the day-long bus tickets sold out that morning. So we had to take a taxi. A taxi from Nagoya to the ryokan costs 50,000 yen. That's very expensive. It's a shame there was no information anywhere about having to buy bus tickets in advance.

The food was delicious, the environment was beautiful, the foot bath in the courtyard was very comfortable, and the hot spring was also very good.
