Absolutely loved this hotel, the location is just beautiful, the hotel laid out over extensive grounds with rooms in small blocks of 4 and we had a fabulous view over the bay. Room was clean and comfy.excellent wifi everywhere (I was even able to FaceTime 50 metres out in the sea!) We only went to the pool once, the rest of the time we chose to go to the beach or on one of the sunbeds around the extensive promenade that runs the length of the hotel grounds, everywhere was close to the bars, restaurants and toilets. Although there was the inevitable sunbed reserving going on, we were always able to get sunbeds. The food in the main buffet was amazing, so fresh, so much choice, and different themes every mealtime, as well as the usual favourites, and a pasta bar and pizza. Everything I ate was delicious. The lunches at Zest were also really tasty, cooked to order and perfect portion sizes. The pastries made by the sweet old lady at Goslem were lovely, and the refreshing icecream served in the main bar was really nice. Good variety of cocktails, Prosecco and even an own brand baileys which was fab, local beer was good, mini bar in room stocked with soft drinks on request, bottled water available in fridges to help yourself too when needed. Evening entertainment was hit and miss, one excellent live band, but the rest was what I would call “dodgy holiday entertainment” we didn’t take part in any daytime activities, (too busy relaxing) but there was plenty on, as well as table tennis, water sports, giant chess etc in the grounds. Now for the reasons for 4 stars rather than 5. the service at the hotel was poor, they clearly don’t have sufficient staff, and those they do aren’t trained, and it’s having a huge impact. No service at sunbeds very little table service in the restaurant and the same at the bars, meaning every time you wanted a drink you had to queue, and on a bad evening at Zest, this could take 20+ minutes, which you just don’t expect. Also a lack of glasses, cups etc at both the restaurant and barsThe staff were all friendly, but you could tell they were stressed, rushed off their feet and working very long hours. The hotel, food and quality of drinks truly are 5 star, but the service is (at best) 3 stars and the owners really need to sort this, because they are losing a lot of guests. I would go back, because I loved the hotel, but I would love it more if the service across the entire resort was sorted to that you expect in a 4 star hotel.
