Dallas has many alternatives at all price points. I suggest looking elsewhere for lodging. I’ve stayed in Homewood Suites all over the country. It’s a budget hotel. I don’t stay there expecting luxury. But I am looking for basic service. Two positives. The staff are all very polite and nice, and there is free and plentiful parking. But… The room: - The dishwasher was not functional (see photo). - One of the TVs didn’t work at all and the other kept dying in the middle of the men’s college basketball finals. - The phone was not plugged into the wall and anyway, their landline number that they advertise is out of service. - The towel racks were so loose they were coming off the wall. Hot water in the shower was in and out, mostly out. Security felt like an issue. There are signs in the parking lot saying not to leave valuables in the car. But the main door off the parking lot to our building was left unlocked at all times, and there’s no room safe. Amenities: Two of the thinnest bath towels I have ever seen, two wash cloths, no bath mat. Two packets of bad coffee, one decaff, no creamer. Bath things - teensy, minimal bottles. One roll of TP. This might have been ok if they had ever once refreshed the room. I don’t need my bed made every day but it would have been nice to have basic supplies replaced once during the four nights we were there. There’s a sign on the bathroom mirror that says they refresh the room every other day and to call the front desk if you need anything. Guess what? You can’t call. See above. The food: Not up to basic Homewood Suites standards. Breakfast is from 6 to 10 am. If you like to make waffles, you’re in luck. If you get there after 8 am, you can forget about eggs or sausage, and there might be one stale bagel left. It seems like they only put out food once and don’t replace it during the ensuing four hours. At 8:30, I was able to scrape some oa**eal off the bottom of the pot and there was also cold cereal, and some not so great fruit. The gym is the size of a closet. There were no towels. It’s possible to put together a workout in there but if there are more than two people using it, it’s real cozy. Overall just terrible.
