Mayfair Hotel Adelaide by IHG

Overall, the service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and quick to meet our needs. A special thanks to Anna and a Chinese male front desk staff member who helped us with our special requests. The restaurant staff also provided very attentive service. We booked a premium room and were given a high-floor corner twin room. It was spacious and very comfortable, with a complimentary mini-bar. The bed was on the softer side, the kind you sink into, but the pillows were great for sleeping! The room and bathroom were generally clean. The toiletries were an Australian brand, nice and fragrant. Do note that the mini-bar wasn't refilled during our multi-night stay. Downsides: 1. The wear and tear on the carpet was really hard to ignore, with some dark, sticky stains. 2. It wasn't a smart TV, but an older model with traditional channels. The breakfast was delicious. Although the menu was the same for two consecutive days and the selection wasn't extensive, it was refined. Each person received one complimentary espresso, and you could also order omelets/fried eggs separately. However, the coffee quality was a bit hit-or-miss. The hotel facilities include a gym and a rooftop bar with a dress code. The location is very close to Rundle Mall, and it's convenient to walk to the Art Gallery, Library, and Exchange Coffee. You can take the tram directly to Glenelg, and an Uber to the airport only took about 20 minutes. The only drawback is that the surrounding area is quite messy, and there are many Indigenous Australians (Aboriginal people) on the streets. First-time visitors to Australia should be cautious. In terms of value for money, I definitely recommend it!

At first glance, it seemed like a beautiful and nice hotel, but the cleanliness standards were simply too low. The side table had drink stains and dirt, and the wine glasses on top of the minibar were covered in dust. The bath towels smelled of body odor, and so did the pillows and bed. There were about ten short, beard-like body hairs stuck to the shower wall. After checking Google reviews, I saw many complaints about the uncleanliness of the rooms and regretted not looking at them before booking.

The hotel's location is excellent, close to museums, art galleries, the University of Adelaide, and the Central Market. It's also very convenient for the airport bus stop and right by a pedestrian street, making it easy to find food, drinks, and entertainment. Both the hotel service and facilities are good.
