Atlantica Amalthia Beach Hotel - Adults Only

This was our 2nd trip to the hotel having first stayed in May 2023, on both times we stayed in the new part in a room overlooking the garden and pool at lower level, groundfloor the 1st time and upperfloor the 2nd time - you can hear the road in this section when the balcony door is open and indeed when using the lower level pool but it's not too obtrusive. Naturally, I found there is a greater level privacy with an upper floor room. The rooms are different between the floors, at ground floor you enter and exit via the front terrace meaning there is full wall at the back of the unit that allows for a separate sink unit to the loo & shower, upstairs you access the room from the back corridor meaning the bathroom is all in one. Note: the sinks are of a modern, trough like design and don't have a plug, so not like a basin which you can fill up, the shower is very powerful and leaves the bathroom floor very wet, but it is also heated so once mopped up with a towel it will dry fairly quickly. I found the bed comfortable once I was in it, it was a bit high for me, and squidgy - memory foam mattress type, but it was supportive, from somebody who prefers a firmer mattress I found it very comfortable, the bed bases are flimsy and do move slightly as you get in but it's not a massive issue. Robes, slippers and a hairdryer are available in the rooms as is a Nespresso machine but pods are not replenished. As other reviews have mentioned there is a charge to use the sunbeds on the beach, 20 Euros/day (if I recall correctly) which we paid no issue on days when we wanted to sunbathe, you do get water I thought it was just one bottle each, but when I went to the bar to purchase more I was told it was free and so it seems it is free water all day, i think the hotel could improve by being clearer with guests about the charge and what it includes - wet flannels are also dished out as are melon pieces, but it's a bit haphazard. The sunbeds at the pool by the beach fill up very quickly (well I should say fill up with towels very quickly) as do the front row sunbeds at the beach. Beach towels are provided and can be exchanged each day at at the spa, where you will also be offered a chance to explore the menu of treatments available at the spa (captive audience). I was genuinely interested in this but found the treatments on offer too expensive, they make it much better value to buy a 'package' which then whilst better value, it works out being very high cost and I imagine quite a long experience, the lady working in the spa is lovely and works hard running the spa and servicing guests with towels and dishing out the wet flannels on the beach. We stayed B&B. Breakfast was generally good with the usual offerings - continental and cooked, including leftovers from the previous day's dinner (ha!) I mostly enjoyed eggs with a small bread roll and salad followed by a nice strong coffee and cake - the cake was delicious. The restaurant area got very busy

Clean, cosy and comfort hotel. Breakfast a bit noisy if you dont go first at early morning.

2021 was the second year when we've choosed Amalthia Beach. The staff îs very friendly and polițe.The rooms are very clean and The pool îs amazing. The food îs delicios. We hale enjoyed very much the week that we starea and,2 dans before the check out we decided to stay one more. We have traveled all over Greece and we decide to stop every year to Amalthia. We want to Thank you for The Best vacation experiente that Amalthia provided to us!

Flawless “It’s rare to have nothing negative to say about a holiday experience. But our 10 day stay at this resort was faultless. I’ll bullet point the aspects that, we felt, went above and beyond the standard expectations of service. * The location next to the beach is perfect. You have the choice of a great pool and the truly beautiful sea. I walked either way along the shore (2 miles each way). The Amalthia Beach Resort definitely has the sandiest section with the least stones. * The standard of cleanliness is astounding. From 6am until late at night cleaners were constantly sweeping, moping and maintaining even the smallest detail. * The rooms are cleaned everyday to the highest standard, usually before midday. * The breakfast facilities are excellent, there’s a wide selection, with no limit on how much you can have. The staff went out of their way to tailor any requests we made (the busy female cook made a special omelet for me every morning and took the trouble to ask my name and make me feel Individually important). * The bar staff in charge of the pool area were exceptional. Many of them are no older that 21, but their work ethic, dedication to the customers enjoyment and their professionalism were truly astounding (These are really nice, kind and focused people. In an age where young people in general are cynical and often unmotivated about their future, it was really refreshing to witness young adults who are positive, communicative and clearly embracing life). * The floor manager in charge of the staff is about as dedicated to excellent service as anyone I’ve encountered. Nothing got past him, to an almost comical level. Whatever the hotel are paying Mr Adonis, it’s not enough. He is the oil that makes the whole machine run smoothly. * Any additional charges that were incurred (€10 for beach sunned) were more than compensated for, with a day long supply of iced water, ice cream and fresh fruit. * The policy of adults only means that there is a calm, relaxed, and romantic tone throughout entire resort. *The variety and selection of good restaurants nearby means you can have an excellent meal every evening in a different setting and never be disappointed. This was the first time my wife and I have had a holiday without our children in 20 years. This resort and the details I’ve listed made us feel like lovestruck teenagers again. I would certainly highly recommend this hotel.

Breakfast was very good Evening meal dining room lacked atmosphere quite often there would only be 4 tables in use! Spiros and Markos always went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable! Only go BB so many restaurants around! Limited choice of food in the evening!

Friendly, helpful staff - especially the outdoor bar staff. We were in the section nearest the beach. Lovely pool right by the beach. Great service. We arrived at 2 a.m. and the kind night receptionist carried our heavy bags to our room. As we left, two young women lugged them down the stairs for us. Close to many other restaurants too. Easy to get the bus into Chania. Quiet.

Didn’t enjoy the 2 twin beds in lieu of a king or queen.
