Backpackers at 1770

Can't rate this exquisite little hidden gem in Agnes waters. The staff the vibe the surf and the company . So homely and full of life and social connections. I went for two days and stayed over a month. A new home away from home filling the heart with love connections and the beauty and healing of Agnes's .. the dorms are awesome. Events each night and the most beautiful location to explore . Love this place!! Highly recommend!!

This hostel is the best in Australia in my opinion, not because of the beds or anything like that, but becase of the people and the atmosphere. Oscar (the owner) is a super nice guy, he always treats guest with curtecy and respect. I stayed for a cupple of month and even worked a little as a cleaner (in exchanhe for living). Check this place out at least all you backpackers. Best of luck! -Larsikenz

Pros: • Organised entertainment each night... pictionary, movie nights, werewolf etc which were good fun • Pool table • Sociable and chilled atmosphere • Duke and Roxy the dogs! Cons: • No lock or door on the bathroom... just a shower curtain. If this was open people can see you in the shower • The WiFi was poor and didn't reach our room. It also had a daily limit which didn't last long at all. You had to pay if you wanted extra • Towels not provided... you have to pay extra! We paid and got dirty towels twice and in the end gave up asking for a clean one • Kitchen was always very busy, VERY hot and VERY dirty. We didn't eat or cook in there as it was too dirty • No curtains on the windows so we woke up really early Sadly the negatives outweigh the positives for us at this hostel and we wouldn't visit again.

Can’t rate this place high enough. The atmosphere and staff are amazing. 10/10 The rooms are large and comfortable. The group seating is great for meeting new people and the kitchen is large and very clean.

I stayed in this hostel for the first time in June 2019 and since then it is the place I always want to return to! the good vibe of the place is inexplicable! The staff, the owner and Duke 🐶 make the atmosphere of the hostel super special! Backpackers @ 1770 is MUST to do in Australia!

I very, very rarely leave reviews but I had to for this place, it's literally a Mecca for backpackers! An absolute MUST STAY! The owner is a genuine legend and has created a homely, quirky, chill environment that seems to bring people back again and again!! This place seems to attract the loveliest, most like minded people and Ive always have the best times here! It is the one place in Australia I felt the most at home and would recommend everyone to visit!

We’re not your regular backpackers, but we were back in the 1980’s. Staying at the backpackers was a sudden whim and are we glad we did. The place is funky, friendly, comfortable, professional and with plenty of character. We were welcome by all and had a great time. Big thanks to both the staff and the other residents…. Made me feel young again. Just love Agnes and the 1770 Backpackers, thank you
